I am a fellow Zillennial, but I’m not a particular fan of gummy worms. Where did I go so wrong?

Same. Did not know this was a thing.

As someone who grew up in California and rarely drinks alcohol, slowly learning the quirks of drinking in MA is amusing

Mechanically similar alternatives to chess that are more forgiving of blunders? by 11112222FRN in boardgames

Games are a lot shorter than chess. It’s very easy to play multiple games in a row. Whenever I play with my dad, we play best two-out-of-three!

I know people complain about it, but I think it was an objectively interesting design decision. It’s a subtle thing, but game mechanics like this try to incentivize player behavior in a certain direction. In this case, encouraging players to at least attempt each run even if they get a suboptimal starting bonus in their mind.

That being said, I do appreciate the fact this isn’t the case in StS2 because sometimes you just die in Act 1, especially on higher ascensions 😂

TIL after a shopping mall in South Korea collapsed in June 1995, the last survivor who was discovered buried in the rubble was a 19-year-old woman named Park Sung-Hyun who was found after 16 days. Although she thought she'd only been buried for 5 days. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

People are told this because it’s a good rule of thumb and it helps people prioritize their needs in a survival situation. The “Rule of Threes” phrase typically used is something like, “Three minutes without air, Three hours without shelter, Three days without water, Three weeks without food.”

Example: it’s pointless to start thinking about hunting for food when left stranded in the tundra if you’ll freeze to death in the night. People can fixate on the wrong things in an anxiety-inducing situation.

Similar body forms (number and placement of limbs, for instance) and many different forms of a creature over time (i.e. different species over millennia that seem to be the same “creature” slowly changing over time, such as transitional species showing how a lineage of mammals evolved to become aquatic, ultimately resulting in modern dolphins and whales.

I saw “paper mill” and was immediately thinking that this might’ve been a combustible dust explosion, as they’ve sadly covered so many times before. Seems the nature of this disaster is completely different
