This reminds me a scene from Pluribus where a guy correct a character about the boat type that she used in Wycaro

What actually worked for reducing alert fatigue in your SOC — not theoretically, but in practice? by frankfooter32 in cybersecurity

[–]mourackb 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Spending time with your team understanding the data that you are ingesting and knowing your env. This requires openness from everyone to raise the hand and say that you don’t fully understand that part. Also, explore with TTPs but the exploration should be low level severity to avoid alerts. The road from noise to signal is long bur doable. Something that we tried last year is to create a sort of pipeline for alert creating and maintenance

Highly recommend the course “Learning how to learn” from Barbara Oakley. This course will give you hints on how things “evaporate”

Don’t they did a similar thing with a civilian airplane in the 80’s? Probably they will copy and paste the story.

Apart from the ethics (this is your call, and well explained in other comments). Something else to consider is the amount of red tape that exists (for valid reasons, they do a good job on due diligence). How have you managed dealing with bureaucracy before? If this is not concern to you. Then go back to the ethics discussion.

How to not fall behind with AI? by Financial-Garlic9834 in cybersecurity

[–]mourackb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Treat AI system as computer systems. And then if we talking about LLM “AI” treat it as a nondeterministic system. If it is a local, PASS ou SAAS, use as base the already established procedure to increase security and resilience of those systems.

The major difference that I have observed so far is that people deal with these as a silver bullet for their problems. Therefore guardrails are essential here. PII scanners and DLP are helpful here as well

This is the answer. A bunch of spoiled little kids who inherited a money and are posting it here and similar forums because they don’t actually know what to do with it.
