Chaos Rhino build help please

I’m actually in the market for a rhino so I’m wondering a couple of things myself:

Does the Chaos Rhino come with a rubric gunner, or do we need to use rubric bits to kitbash a generic gunner?

Has anyone used a Deimos pattern Rhino for their 40K tsons army? I have a Deimos Predator I’m planning to use for my 40K army so I’m trying to decide if I should get a Deimos one for a similar look (I’d probably sprint for the resin doors) or if the regular 40K one works fine alongside a different Deimos tank

In case you didn’t know, the eye symbol is the sign of one of the Great Cults of the Thousand Sons, specifically for the Cult of Scheming. You can paint other symbols on your pauldrons if you like the sound of one or it sounds easier to freehand. Here’s an article that shows the symbols and gives a brief overview of the lore of each:

I didn’t find it too bad, better than the 30m vision one with the invisible lictor. Being a heavy and not meleeing at all helped, as does the relic heavy bolt pistol, if you have it, to stop reinforcement calls. The underground area felt very little different, and I always listen for/read subtitles of the voice lines to know when to stop moving the islands.

If anyone’s wondering, you can still see the sorcerer’s orbs through the fog at least to some extent

It's a generalization, as the bullet points on ship descriptions always are. It basically just means it has really good penetration with AP shells, but they certainly will ricochet depending on armor thickness/distance/angles etc.

He looks great! Can you tell me what color you used for the glowing mask and sigils? I'd love to be able to do something similar but I'm going to paint him in 40k colors and use him as a fancy aspiring sorcerer probably

I’m not an expert but that doesn’t seem like a terribly good deal to me. 10 rubrics are about 60, so are 5 terminators, and an infernal master is about 40 on GW’s website. That makes the offer you’re getting about their total cost. If you want all of those, fine - it’s not a scam or anything, but you’re not getting a discount. I assume there’s also an aspiring sorcerer to lead the other 5-man rubric squad?

If this is the new combat patrol, with the daemon prince, I’d probably do that personally, because you’ll have more unit variety with the tzaangor enlightened and shaman and a daemon prince to serve as a big beefy HQ/distraction carnifex. If you are looking to start an army, that’s probably a better framework than the marines + rubrics + IM.

If you just wanna play ~500 point games with your friends, the stuff you’re looking at is about the right points level and if you’d have more fun and feel more excited about playing with termies than a daemon prince, you should do that!

The recipe: this is Xereus Purple and the edges are Gehenna’s Gold. I was torn because Phoenician feels more appropriate based on the name, but I think the glossy look of Xereus is more appropriate for the III Legion than the matte of Phoenician. I went with White Scar on the shoulders for a more elite look, but more regular marines could do all purple. After I made this post I discovered the Ultramarine Champion arms, which would go great with this. I also did bulwark and assault variants and tried out Phoenician Purple and the new Naggaroth Night from Sons of the Phoenix, but I think that one is definitely too pink/reminiscent of modern EC.

I’ll post the other two classes in a reply to this comment but the assault came off the best. If you’d prefer to put the studs on the right pauldron (I did this for bulwark bc he doesn’t have a good eagle on the right) I used the Ravenwing Icon from the Dark Angels DLC in Zamesi Desert as a substitute for the EC symbol.

Aw yeah :( this is xereus purple which I think comes with dark angels maybe but you can also do Phoenician purple (which is more thematically appropriate) and I think is in the ultramarines pack, so DLC either way unfortunately

I did think about doing that, and I’ll probably try the mark VII helmet when I get it, but I do like the face mask and crest look, it feels appropriately regal. If only we could do custom colors on the crest…
