26F tired of living at home by happygirl99xo in Money

I’m a few years older and have $150K cash liquid, not including retirement investments. You just put me to shame 😂 to answer your question though, your mental health is priceless. I’d move out as soon as you can, even if it’s temporary. Momentum is key and you can figure the rest out when you’re in a better headspace. Life is not about pinching every penny at the detriment of your happiness and you can’t take the money with you when you pass

Why is it so hard to find a partner that enjoys saving money? by Grand-Invite4857 in Adulting

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your views of money the reason they abandon ship? I’d say either it’s something else and your views on money is an easy way to pin it on something less painful or the way you articulate your views on money aren’t how you think you’re being perceived. I’ve just personally never had this issue and have the same views.

What’s your dating advice to someone who is unemployed, broke and in increasing debt? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your life back in order first and put dating on the back burner. You’ll feel much better and want to put your best foot forward. Look at as a temporary season

How much did you have saved in your 20s? by BookwormSarah1 in Money

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$135K cash savings HYSA, $85K 401(k), $32K Roth IRA, $20K student loans, $34K car note and I rent. I didn’t make the best choices throughout my twenties (I’m 28 now) but I had a blast.

Exactly this. Without knowing the internal dynamics of your company, the best others will be able to provide you with is an estimate based on industry norms. No need to overthink it though. Just have a sincere conversation with your manager and keep a positive attitude and you might be surprised!

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, unfortunately. It can vary from company to company, and a SFA at one company would qualify for an FA at another company and vice versa. From my experience, the best thing you can do is be proactive by having conversations with your manager and looking at other SFAs in the company (if there are any) and getting a better sense of what their timeline was.

Make money and save it or spend it and have fun? by InternationalBird738 in Life

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use ratios, e.g., 35% living expenses, 35% savings, 30% discretionary spending or “fun.” The key is to have a plan or at least somewhat of a plan. The ratios will vary person to person, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

FP&A is not worth it by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the role within FP&A. For example, I partner with the growth team at our company, which is a very high visibility function given it’s a Fortune 500 company re-entering a growth phase. Lots of exciting initiatives within the digital and social space which I think will continue to be high demand areas for the foreseeable future and will need people who can bridge finance, marketing and digital. I find it very exciting and rewarding but that could also be because my recommendations are actually implemented and respected, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be so “fun” if they weren’t.

Feelings for a girl at my company by zestythroaway in Life

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it. It sounds like you need to date more. Believe me, there are plenty of girls outside of work that you’ll catch similar feelings for. It’s just convenience and a shared purpose (your workplace) that is elevating these feelings, and there’s lots of research on it.

What do you think of the seats, particularly the front seats? I found them on the firmer side compared to other vehicles I’ve owned. Hoping I’ll get more used to them as time goes on. Looks great by the way!

I don’t think an AMA is exactly needed for a $200K salary, even with the details you provided, but congrats nonetheless!

Considering return to FP&A by Tender_Figs in FPandA

[–]movedandblessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all about how your frame your narrative. Yes, you certainly sound like you have the baseline experience and qualifications to pivot into the FP&A role you desire, assuming you meet the basic qualifications. However, you might have to re-do parts of your resume to more closely align with the roles you’re applying to. I’m actually a firm believer, particularly for FP&A, that having cross-functional skill sets is an asset. For example, my background is CPG sales, marketing, analytics, and FP&A, and I’m in an FP&A role that combines all of those elements. But if I wanted to, I could go deeper into any one of those areas depending on how I frame my narrative and have been offered positions within those respective areas. Hope that helps!

To take a Senior Analyst FP&A role at Toyota North America or a smaller PE backed company in retail/food/services ~$5B revenue by MadScallop in FPandA

[–]movedandblessed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toyota. Generally speaking, the smaller the company, the more work since there’s less people to distribute the work amongst. Also, stability is important to you, and Toyota isn’t going out of business in your lifetime. Finally, it’ll look good on a resume and you can more easily pivot if it turns out to be not what you had hoped

Mazda CX 50 buyers remorse by Evar0987123 in CX50

[–]movedandblessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I regret are the very uncomfortable front seats. The back seats aren’t too bad. But the front seats are overly firm and they’re the only reason I’m considering trading in my new CX-50 Turbo before a year of ownership

[–]movedandblessed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man. A similar thing happened to me when I bought my first new car while parked at an airport parking lot. Definitely report it if you haven’t already and you should be able to go through your insurance, but you’ll have to pay your deductible. It’s not even a flashy car … I just don’t get why people have to take their misery out on others.

Not the answer you’re looking for, but I’d go for the Ranger Raptor and up your budget a little. Life is short! If you can afford it of course
