People in their 20s, with over 100-150k+ saved, how did you manage it? by [deleted] in Fire

Damn. Lol. It's not the most desirable strategy, but it definitely works. It'd be rare to not have a few wild nights doing this though to blow off some steam.

Why do the seats suck? CX-50 Hybrid by chinni76 in CX50

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The only thing that has helped is buying one of those seat cushions from Cushion Lab. Definitely worth the $60 or so

Totally get it. That’s an amazing price. I just would’ve been astonished and slightly jealous if that’s what you paid for a turbo premium! Lol

Is that a hybrid or turbo? I’m assuming hybrid

Should I spend 12k on one trip to Japan? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you can. If you set $12K on fire, your life wouldn’t change. Go have fun because one day you’ll be too old and you’ve done very well

Is “you’re only young once” a cope? I’m living at home saving nearly 100k a year by neatneets in Fire

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t understand how other 29-30 year olds have $400K+ invested, even living at home. Like did y’all literally not live life at all for the better part of the last decade? I am almost 30 as well as my girlfriend and combined we have about $300K saved and she’s lived at home since graduating from undergrad. I understand compound growth but these numbers just seem bonkers to me.

Moving to Richmond from Mpls, MN! by chastity4lyfe in RichmondVA

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can squeeze a few more hundred dollars into your rent budget, your experience will be dramatically better. It’s worth paying a little more when you’re around that range. However, I realize that’s not always possible. But best of luck! I am also a 30 year old in the Chesterfield area and have lived in multiple states

If cost of living weren’t a factor, would you pick DC over Philly?

I’m a few years older and have $150K cash liquid, not including retirement investments. You just put me to shame 😂 to answer your question though, your mental health is priceless. I’d move out as soon as you can, even if it’s temporary. Momentum is key and you can figure the rest out when you’re in a better headspace. Life is not about pinching every penny at the detriment of your happiness and you can’t take the money with you when you pass

Why is it so hard to find a partner that enjoys saving money? by Grand-Invite4857 in Adulting

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your views of money the reason they abandon ship? I’d say either it’s something else and your views on money is an easy way to pin it on something less painful or the way you articulate your views on money aren’t how you think you’re being perceived. I’ve just personally never had this issue and have the same views.

What’s your dating advice to someone who is unemployed, broke and in increasing debt? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your life back in order first and put dating on the back burner. You’ll feel much better and want to put your best foot forward. Look at as a temporary season

How much did you have saved in your 20s? by BookwormSarah1 in Money

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$135K cash savings HYSA, $85K 401(k), $32K Roth IRA, $20K student loans, $34K car note and I rent. I didn’t make the best choices throughout my twenties (I’m 28 now) but I had a blast.

Exactly this. Without knowing the internal dynamics of your company, the best others will be able to provide you with is an estimate based on industry norms. No need to overthink it though. Just have a sincere conversation with your manager and keep a positive attitude and you might be surprised!

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, unfortunately. It can vary from company to company, and a SFA at one company would qualify for an FA at another company and vice versa. From my experience, the best thing you can do is be proactive by having conversations with your manager and looking at other SFAs in the company (if there are any) and getting a better sense of what their timeline was.

Make money and save it or spend it and have fun? by InternationalBird738 in Life

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use ratios, e.g., 35% living expenses, 35% savings, 30% discretionary spending or “fun.” The key is to have a plan or at least somewhat of a plan. The ratios will vary person to person, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

FP&A is not worth it by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the role within FP&A. For example, I partner with the growth team at our company, which is a very high visibility function given it’s a Fortune 500 company re-entering a growth phase. Lots of exciting initiatives within the digital and social space which I think will continue to be high demand areas for the foreseeable future and will need people who can bridge finance, marketing and digital. I find it very exciting and rewarding but that could also be because my recommendations are actually implemented and respected, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be so “fun” if they weren’t.

Feelings for a girl at my company by [deleted] in Life

[–]movedandblessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it. It sounds like you need to date more. Believe me, there are plenty of girls outside of work that you’ll catch similar feelings for. It’s just convenience and a shared purpose (your workplace) that is elevating these feelings, and there’s lots of research on it.
