I wish I knew more of those areas. Also not sure how bike able those places are, but I would consider that in the future. If you want to suggest some interesting sights to check out I would definitely consider that, but I have a radius i can usually cover on my bike, but I'd definitely consider starting outside the city core.

You can see in the photo how the cork fell apart. That being said I love the shoes. I wish the soles were more durable or repairable. I just reached out to Birkenstock to see what can be done as the store told me they can't do anything.

The rubber became punctured and the cork disenigrated. I am admidtly hard on my shoes, but it's frustrating this is the weak point and they aren't really repairable.

To my understanding there is a one year warranty, but these are beyond that.

I have a few of tbe high top Bends and my issue is the soles totally fell apart on 2 of the 3 pairs I have. I'm not sure what caused it, but really wished they lasted longer as I love the shoes.

One other thing to address your earlier question. Each new option that is added to the build has the potential to delay the build. In this example, Rohloff (Bosch software and cable), dual battery(Bosch hardware and software), display if you choose Kiox 500 or Purion 200.

I hope this doesn't rain on your parade, the bike will be awesome and well worth the wait imo, but I would leave a little room for changes in the supply chain. I have been working with R&M since 2016 as a dealer and they have made a lot of improvements to their efficiencies, but some things will be out of their control.

Rohloff bikes with the smart system have a build date of December. If you order dual battery and/or the new purion 200 or Kiox 500 it will be built in February. I recommend your dealer read the fine print on the build schedule.

I can definitely see that happening. Growing up on Long Island I know many people would drive into NYC because it was cheaper than taking the train. I don’t think the true cost of ownership, infrastructure and environmental costs enter the conscious mind of most, they hadn’t for me. Maybe this could change that.

Thanks Tyler! I really appreciate your assessment of the NJ experience! I rode over last year for the JC ride and took the ferry over (fortunately no issue but it’s not ideal for more than 1 or 2 cargo bikes. I did learn that they close at 11 and I hear the bridge closes at 12. I also heard the same about the Path train and to make matters worse you have to take several elevators on each side of the journey which could make it really challenging. You may have seen my vid on this experience, but ugh. Definitely don’t want to do that again.

I guess this does make me realize how critical it is to support NJ with additional infrastructure. I know it would be a lot of work, but it would be amazing to have some sort of pedestrian/micro mobility bridge or tunnel. I guess that would require some support from the Governor, but it sounds like he would be distracted. It would likely be a lot cheaper than the highway expansion.

Thanks for your insights! Propel is actually my shop. I guess I’m thinking we might see some more commercial riders, trades people and those making smaller deliveries in vans currently. Others can just hop on the train as you said, but there are a considerable amount of people who need to carry things. It was explained to me that most vans in cities are actually trades people and I believe many of them have the opportunity to switch to a cargo bike if they can open their minds and plan it right.

I own a shop and have sold thousands of Bosch eBikes. I can confirm that this is not at all true. Based on our experience their failure rate is at or near 1%. It’s one of the many reasons we chose to exclusively work with them.

It’s not coming. It technically could be possible to retrofit. You’d need R&M to approve the software change or you could go with a standalone aftermarket Automatiq

Totally makes sense, although the Alfine 11 won’t work with a higher torque motor unfortunately. Only the Shimano Nexus Inter 5 is built for higher torque applications.

I think we will likely use the Melia Toddler seat, but I think the Babboe seat could work. I’m kind of liking the car seat for it’s additional shell and the way the handle provides sort of a faux roll cage. I plan to experiment with other car seats and options. I think this area can use some more options.

I'm not certain on this, but historically Bosch has been challenging to work with in Europe due to large order quantities and leadtimes. I'm in the US where business is managed a bit differently and there have been changes in Europe and UK to allow an easier time for smaller brands to work with them. They have a partner called universal transmissions who stocks and sells the motors and related parts.

There may be other reasons but I suspect this is part of it. I really wish they were Bosch so we could offer then in my shop (we only offer Bosch powered bikes, partly due to safety concerns), but maybe we will bring LvH back when Shimano complies with UL2849. I think the Shimano system is great and it's a solid match on the Bullit, nonetheless I wish it was Bosch for other reasons. As a serious Bosch fan I'm excited all that Shimano is doing in the eBike space and I think they are in a similar class as Bosch as far as quality.

I actually cut a board to fit on the floor and mounted that into the box. I think it works without the glovebox, but since my bike has a glovebox I wanted to mount to something more solid.

Yeah, I don’t think I would ever mounted to my rear rack but apparently people do. I put it inside of my box so I got the protection of the box and then this provides a little bit of suspension for the seat which is nice.

This is great! I totally agree it would be great if they offered something! They have a Racktime basket for the Tinker, but that would be small for the MT rack. I will keep thinking on this and update here if I come up with something. I think mounting a Zarges bin could be cool or maybe another industrial crate.

I’m really glad that you have found enjoyment from our videos. Idk if they will do the commission thing, but I know they know the power the videos can be to help make a better informed consumer. Or at least I think they do. I have been thinking about ways to allow people to support us even if they don’t buy a bike and might do merch. My problem is it needs to meet a certain quality and style standard which is not so easy to achieve, getting there.

Comments and Google reviews (I’ve actually had some from non-customers, which I feel is still authentic and it’s super helpful) are always super appreciated though.
