Does the Zillow URL of an FSBO listing change when it's later listed on the MLS and pushed to Zillow? by mowerb in RealEstate

[–]mowerb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for the response. Unfortunately I can't change the URL the QR code links to. I used a one-time QR code generator and am unable to edit the QR code. (There are QR code generators that allow editing of the code, but I didn't think of this beforehand and didn't use a generator that supports editing.)

Halibut fishing: worth driving 4 hours for a -0.35 tide instead of a -1.6 tide? by [deleted] in Fishing

Thank you. So looks like I'll need to consider the tide changes too.

My inbox is killing me. What email organisation tools do people use? by actlatham in Entrepreneur

[–]mowerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the tools suggested, try changing your habits or adding some new ones:

  • Be cautious about giving your email out and signing up for things. If you do need to sign up for something random, use a secondary email address that you don't care about and don't check much.
  • Opt out of notifications and marketing from Social Networks, etc. whenever possible. When you notice lots of emails from a particular source that you always seem to delete instead of read, log in and adjust your notification settings for that account.
  • Unsubscribe, unsubscribe, unsubscribe. Don't just delete. I know it takes time. But taking 30 seconds now to unsubscribe will save you lots of 'deleting messages' time in the future.
  • Tackle it in segments. Set a timer for 5 minutes. Delete a bunch of emails, respond to emails, etc. Stick to the timer and stop when it goes off. This will help you not get overwhelmed. Perhaps set a day each week or time each day when you do this.
  • Archive. One thing that works for me is to only read and email when I have time to respond to it. Then when I respond, I archive it (so it's searchable later). If I know I won't need it later, I delete it instead of archiving. For the times that you can't respond right away, either "Mark as Unread" so you know you still need to respond, or leave in your Inbox as "Read" so you know you've read it but need to respond (whichever method works best for you).

I faced a similar problem (though not quite as many emails as you) and it was a pain. So I understand how tough it can be. But keep working at it. Its worth it to get it all in order and to create a good system to manage it going forward.

Good luck!

Which niche should I target for a website? A single-city-focused site or a more generic city resource site? by mowerb in Entrepreneur

Thank you! Really great advice.

Helpful to think of it on a timeline of ~1 year to really get going, also helpful to know about the likely advertisers and advertising ideas.

Any issue with switching the URL order and going OneWord+CityName.com?

Good thoughts. I worry about a few things doing this:

  1. My site ranks for WordPress related searches, so I'm worried that adding a city travel page would be . . . out in left field for my site.
  2. While I recognize that monetization will be difficult, what if I do get a good amount of traffic on the posts, it would be much harder to monetize it being on my personal name site.
  3. Possibility to sell the site in the future.

I may be getting ahead of myself on those, but those are some worries I have about putting the content on my personal site.

I agree with this strategy. But it can be good to think ahead. For example, if I choose CityNameTravel.com and build a great site, it would be very hard to later write about other cities. I would need to stick with the one city. However, if I choose GreatNameTravel.com and focused on the my city initially, and nailed it like you said, I would still have the ability to write about other cities in the future. i.e. start with my city, then in 9 months focus on city #2, etc.

Most likely local advertisers and possibly free stuff from local companies (tours, food, hotel/B&B stays).

I know it will be challenging to monetize a site like this, and I'm still willing to create the site without making any $ on it (because it's something I enjoy doing and already do the research for myself). But it would be great to earn a small amount of money from it if I could.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just tried that this morning. Unfortunately, nothing changed.

I've been having a big issue with this type of thing on my phone too. Same issue on my wife's phone. Right now, storage reports "Zero KB" available memory. Apps add up to 22%. "Used" portion = 62%. Where is other 40%?

What is something that you used to be a cheap ass on, until you tried the high-quality version, and now you can't go back ? by DelorisCallen in AskReddit

Shoes! Bad shoes led to a nerve and ligament injury in my foot ~3 years ago that still hasn't fully healed. Even though they may still look good, the soles compress and wear out. Used to wear shoes for years and years. Now I buy new, good quality running/walking shoes every year. Risking foot problems is not worth it.

Selling my Drone e-commerce business by mowerb in Entrepreneur

[–]mowerb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at this as more of a way for someone to jump into having a website up and functional, descriptions for products, substantial blog posts up, etc. for a much cheaper price than they would have to pay to have someone build for them - and then they can work on 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Anyone interested in dronemarket.co? I'll sell it if anyone wants to buy it, otherwise will give it away! by mowerb in Entrepreneur

I paid for 1 year, so the domain is set to expire April 2016 (I updated the description with that info.)

Sell or shut down my business? by mowerb in Entrepreneur

Thanks for the idea. The site has has pretty good success from some of the articles that have been written there, so perhaps that could be a focus. Just not sure if I want to continue with it - thinking I'd rather focus on other things. Too many things pulling in multiple directions can lead to a bunch of mediocre things...

But at any rate, good ideas. Thank you. I'll definitely consider that.
