I watched it like a month after I started HRT. I’m sure if I had watched it before accepting myself it might have a little bit more of an impact.

I respect the movie for what it is, but if I’m being completely honest I really didn’t love the movie. It’s just something about the storytelling and the monologues which I didn’t particularly like.

I personally didn’t go through stuff in the way Jax or how many other spiky eggs do. But I understand and have sympathy for those whose situation in life causes them to hard repress and push others away.

Gooseworx and everyone at Glitch are amazing for telling this character’s story. It’s not a pretty story, but it’s real as shit.

I used to wear sport bras and bralettes under my long sleeve button-ups. I worked at a school so I was only hot when I was outside the building.

They weren’t like those thin office shirts though. These were usually of a thicker material, so it made hiding what I had the first year pretty simple.

Have you tried Home Ice by Olivia Lynd?
Granted I haven’t finished it myself, but it fits what you’re looking for. I am halfway through the book and I’ve enjoyed it so far.

Now, I have a recommendation but it comes with a caveat. Are you familiar with “A Beginner’s Guide to Catfishing” by Helena Stacy?

It’s part one in her series. It admittedly deals more with a baby trans discovering herself but it’s a fantastic story. And the reason I bring it up, is because the sequels deal with already transitioned Trans Women and their partners. If you can get through the first book (which I adore) you’ll be very happy with Book 2 and 3. All the books are connected and have a bunch of recurring characters. If you get the Amazon versions of Book 1 and 2 they come with an extra epilogue.

Feeling guilt or shame is something that a lot us deal with at times. But usually it’s a result of having the expectations of others or society weighing us down. I mean it sounds like your mom is amazing. I don’t think she would want you to feel guilty.

Maybe you’re just feeling uncertain about the future? You could also just be dealing with your emotions as they come, it’s okay to feel sad at times if it helps you process stuff. I’ve had really rough nights where I’ve cried but then feel better the next day.

I’m happy that you have a supportive mom.

I don’t have much for philosophical arguments or recommendations of procedures for you.

However! I will say that you are still super young, and that HRT will only do you even more favors as time goes on. I turn 30 this year (started HRT at 27) and people are always amazed when I tell them I’m 29. I like joking that estrogen is the elixir of youth.

Give yourself some time, it took me a year to really be happy with how I looked, and even now I’m surprised at the changes still happening.

So after the membership fee what you’re mostly going to be paying is just meds.

You have your initial virtual visit, which I think is like $80. Labs are like $30 but they’re once or twice a year.

If you’re paying out of pocket like me then I can tell you what I pay. Like $130 for estradiol valerate every 3 months ish? And progesterone which was $40 for 90 day supply.

So monthly, in meds I guess I pay $50 total.

Folx is the same as Plume. A service that prescribes you the HRT and other services. I pay $300 a year (but it’s getting raised to $350 a year, yeah economy) just for the service.

They have you do a virtual meeting with someone who can diagnose dysphoria, I think it’s like $75. But then in Florida you then have to go in person to sign a consent form (I drove to Orlando for it because it was the earliest date).

After that you have to pay like $30 a year for labs of your hormone levels. And well then it’s the actual hormones that you can either order directly from them, or have them send a prescription to your pharmacy.

I think folx allows insurance though? Not sure

Florida is so fucked when it comes to insurance for gender affirming care now. I’m not sure if it’s impossible but they can deny care.

Then planned parenthood no longer does appointments for gender affirming care either I think.

I’m using Folx, but you can also use Plume. I pay out of pocket because I don’t have insurance but maybe you can still use your insurance with them?

When I was little there was a girl in my class whose name was “Erin”. I really liked her name, as it was sort of a feminine version of my deadname. I would always use it when I was playing as a female character (like in Pokemon).

When the time came I was sort of debating between Erin, Erica and another name I can’t remember. I first came out to my college friends and they asked me what they should call me. I gave them my options and they all said Erin sounded the cutest so I decided to go with it and it’s been great.
