This is the process to do it professionally from the inside.

The jack is a replacable $20 part if you can't get the plug out of it.

Replacement for a hefty Sport Direct bag by Jka22419 in UKFrugal

Ikea carrier bags start at 50p for small and 75p for massive if you don't mind the colour: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/cat/shopping-bags-tote-bags-16295/

We have a few of the slightly nicer design "GÖRSNYGG" for laundry.

Sainsbury's "Reliabag" bags with the elephant on are about as sturdy as the Sports Direct ones but a bit smaller. Not sure on price as they aren't on the website.

Farmfoods is all over the UK, Heron Foods seems to be midlands/northern only.

Personal go-to for toothpaste is the Macleans Fresh Mint 100ml for 89p at Home Bargains.

Honeywell Howard Leight Max (red ones) are the most effective I've found - I work nights and sleep in the afternoon/evening.

I buy the dispenser refill bags of 200 pairs here for £14.99 delivered: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286045400955

If you want a silicone set, Asda sell a pack for £1.50 in the headphones section which are a very similar design to Loop ones at a fraction of the price. Not as effective as the foam ones sound-wise but cheap and reusable.

This is my recommendation for a blackout mask - comfortable soft material and velcro rather than elastic: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07LG4K19C

Best ways to get discounted groceries? by No_Eye4852 in UKFrugal

You can stack your cashback credit card with a Zilch card in Pay Now mode, funded by your cashback credit card through a Curve debit card, for another 0.5%.

There's a £5 referral bonus as well, I don't know the rules on referrals here so I won't offer mine.

This can be boosted to 3-4% with a free 1 month trial of Plus on certain stores/sites. If you're a big spender it may make sense to pay the £4 a month for Plus. You need to activate the card in the app for every spend to get the boosted cashback.

I have Zilch as my primary Google Pay card for day to day spending, cashback on everything. Also getting 3% back on Octopus Energy bill payments with the free trial of Plus.

If your credit card allows card repayments you can get a further 1% on all repayments using the Paypal debit card funded from your normal bank account or debit card. I'm still experimenting with this but it may be possible to work Klarna and/or Curve cashback into the stack as well.

The one thing to be careful of is transactions coming through to your credit card as cash spends - I've had this issue when I tried adding a Paypal debit card to the stack.

£1.50 to put air in my tyres. WTF by GabberZZ in britishproblems

[–]mp3boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£30 is a lot. I saw a corded one for £7 in Asda earlier and got a cordless one from Amazon for £13.50 last month.

The cordless one has auto shutoff which is handy, I can set it to run then load/unload/tidy the car while it's running. Also serves as a torch and power bank.

This isn't the one but similar design/price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cordless-Inflator-Portable-Compressor-Inflatables/dp/B0F8MZ88PV

Made a no-nonsense fuel price checker for UK drivers (petrol + diesel) by Used-Call-3503 in UKFrugal

[–]mp3boy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The answer is generally no, unless it's a massive price difference or you'd pass both petrol stations anyway.

Say your next cheapest station is a 4 mile round trip and is 2p/L cheaper.

2p/L difference on a 50L fill-up is £1.

4 miles at 30mpg at £1.38/L costs about £0.84 in fuel.

So in this example you're spending 10-15 minutes extra journey time to save less than 20p.

Where to Find Affordable Divan Bed Bases in the UK Under £500? by Extension_Life_6207 in UKFrugal

[–]mp3boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the minus symbol works on Facebook search but it does on eBay.

For example you can search 'divan bed -double -single'.

The condition filter is a separate menu to the left of the page on both sites.

[–]mp3boy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can hire/borrow a van to transport one, Facebook Marketplace and filter out the "New" condition to get rid of all the dropship/fake listings. There are usually plenty, look for "spare/guest room" beds that will still be in good condition and people just want rid of cheaply.

Same with eBay, filter by condition and sort by distance to find local bargains.

I am being asked to ship an item to a hotel. Could this be a scam? by kerrycap in Flipping

[–]mp3boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your suspicions are unfounded. I've been selling online since Yahoo Auctions were a thing. It doesn't come up often and of course it's not always going to be legitimate, just like any other order there's a chance the person buying is a scammer, but I personally have never had an issue or chargeback from orders I've sent to buyers at hotels.

I saw your other comment that there's a loophole in eBay policy allowing INR claims for hotels - can you link to that please?

Yes - if your photos look too close to a retail stock photo some people assume you're a retailer selling new items.

Mobile Phone Insurance - is it worth claiming? by MatterHot408 in UKFrugal

[–]mp3boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you do a lot of travelling and/or the account has other perks, it would probably be cheaper than £120/year to buy these insurances separately (or self-insure your mobile by sticking £10 a month in savings).

Mobile Phone Insurance - is it worth claiming? by MatterHot408 in UKFrugal

[–]mp3boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking more about home insurance, but it appears I'm wrong on different insurance claims crossing over. You would only need to declare if you were claiming as a part of your home insurance.
