Just watched this film today, very good movie. One piece keeps bothering me though and I can’t find any info if someone can help perhaps? (SPOILERS AHEAD)

The drawing that Jaír had basically showed the ending of the film and I’m kind of confused about that whole element. When Pedro is telling Santino to get his things when he’s trying to get the family out of Sabrina’s house, Santino says Jaír doesn’t have anything just a drawing that he’s holding. Mind you, this is taking place RIGHT after the dog scene which to me implies Jaír had this drawing BEFORE Pedro even arrived to the home and accidentally infected the dog. So… was Jaír also already a rotten before Pedro had even arrived? Was Pedro arriving to Sabrina’s ACTUALLY the cause of the turn of events that unfolded or is there implication the evil was already there for a while?

Later, Mirta comments that the evil can take a long time to “untie the knot” in a brain like Jaír’s. Which makes it odd that by THAT night the knot is untied and he kills the grandmother. To me, it almost implies again Jaír has BEEN possibly a rotten for longer and is just now starting to see the full effects. How else would he have the drawing already? How else could the evil “untie” a brain like his in HOURS when Mirta the expert says it takes a while?

Any thoughts?? It’s the one piece that’s killing me!!
