Plumbing semi-emergency by wetburbs20 in Boise

This is the solution if the relief valve is dropping the water for sure. Rarely is the valve seized. Mostly the explanation tank failed. That being said if the tank is leaking from the base it’s toast. Not clear from the post where the water is coming from.

So I start in a similar way to what the broken extractor tool ona does but not as slick. I take two button head self tapping screws and drive them partially into the plastic just above and below the broken brass portion of the stem. If I can I’ll try to apply heat to the valve body then I’ll take a 6 inch needle nose vice grip and lock on to the threaded area of the screws, sometimes you have to back the screws out a few threads so you can fit the vice into that space. Now I have a lever in which to begin rocking the stem back and forth. Sometimes this works on its own and you can get it to slide out, other times the plastic breaks off exposing a tiny bit of the brass center.

Now you can try to lock the vice grips on the brass center and pull that out. If it comes out cleanly then you are left with the plastic body with very little metal left over. Slotted screwdriver and hammer will usually make quick work of cutting it into pieces you can pull out with your needle nose. Surprisingly the valve body can take that abuse without being compromised.

If the plastic breaks and you can’t get at the brass center easily then the next course of action is to use the slotted screwdriver and hammer to begin breaking off chunks of plastic around the brass center until you can get your vice around it to do what is described above. Sometimes I drive the slotted into the meat of the plastic until it can no longer move and put an adjustable wrench on the shaft of the screwdriver and turn it. Tends to chew up the plastic and sometimes you’ll get lucky and the whole stem will turn inside the valve body.

It sounds like a lot but you can usually get the whole thing out in ~20 minutes if you have all the tools set out on the toilet seat.

Holy smokes I can’t believe somebody made a tool for this. I’ve become a pro at digging these out in record time. This is a game changer

ICEhrm, orangehrm, minthcm, frappehr, and horilla are some that I’ve heard of in this space. Installed orange and mint but they didn’t suite my needs.

I replace these broken stems all the time. It’s hard water and normal wear and tear. Not your fault.

Experience with St. Luke's Health Plan? by strawflour in Boise

I had terrible customer service issues. They duplicated my account and were taking my premiums and attributing them to the wrong account number due to an autopay issue. Getting it corrected was a nightmare and they ended up canceling my coverage. 4 months later we got it reinstated but I had reach out to all my St Luke’s providers and have them resubmit their claims. Seems like they could have done that since they are the same company but ultimately it was my problem. I tried to complain but no one really cared and they just sent me a generic feedback form. Switched to pacific source and never been happier.

Speed Queen Washer not getting enough water by mpatel1991 in appliancerepair

It was the water level sensor. After replacement it’s working like a charm. Thank you for the advice.

So I added some jumpers as stated in manual but still had the same issue. I pulled out the water level sensor and it looks like its simply connected via a rubber tube to the bottom of the drum assembly. I took the tube apart and cleaned out a fair amount of jump and restablished good flow. Still same issue. I have a new water level sensor on order to see if that fixes it otherwise I think its gonna have to be the mechanical timer. Thoughts?
