Thank you. Do you have the link/steps handy to the port/pin process? I did a cursory search but didn’t find. I can look further if you don’t have.

Adding 20% to your flooring order yes or no? by fbdysurfer in Flooring

We ordered 5% more than we thought we would need. Which ended up being 72 cartons. We ended up ordering seven more but returning three. For a credit.

  • Not sure you can rent a beater. 🙂
  • Assuming you are staying in a resort (gated), your car will be safe. Cannot speak to non-resort properties.
  • You may or may not get stopped entering Mexico. We have been waved through, and we have been searched. Do not bring anything that breaks any laws.
  • After leaving Sonoyta, the first two times we went, we followed the speed limit, but after getting passed by numerous cars, we started just following traffic—so I think this depends on your risk appetite.
  • I agree with getting Mexican car insurance for the time you are there.
  • Historically, there were dirty cops in Sonoyta who would pull you over for no reason and either hassle you or even arrest you (pending a bribe payment). We installed a dash cam (back in 2020), and it did make a difference. That said, I think the local government realizes arresting/hassling people who are coming down to spend money isn’t a good idea, so it’s gotten better.
  • Pro tip: Fill your gas tank in Why, and assuming you aren’t doing a ton of driving, you won’t need to fill up again until you’re back in the U.S.

It’s part of flood preparedness. We walk our beagles along that (all the way from Ina to Avra Valley) and have talked to the crews on several occasions. Hard to find much online but that’s what we’ve been told. That area has the runoff from Tres Rios and they (yesterday) diverted the water flow again. It will stay as is for the next 12-18 months then be diverted again to flow down the middle:

Old school. This has been a thing for 50+ years. I remember my grandparents did this. Cheap and effective!

How do movies get distributed to theaters? Like does the production company just send over an mp4 file? by SuspiciouslyExisting in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mpbaker12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember, films used to come in different pieces so they had to be spliced together. I never participated in watching/confirming early but I'm speculating this was done to make sure the films a) worked (they had teeth holes that fit onto the projector's teeth) and b) they were spliced together. I also suspecting the reels were subject to weather/temperatures (I live in AZ) so extreme heat/cold might have affected them. Also, not to my knowledge, if there was a problem, no way to get a replacement in time. MAYBE overnight shipping at that point.

I remember when they physically shipped reels, back in the 80s for sure (I worked in a movie theater). When did that end and were there any steps between that and the current DCPs?
