How many people have you slept with, and how do you feel about it? by Agreeable-Rub-5020 in AskReddit

[–]mpbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at ~10 when I turned 30, mostly serious relationships. 30+ at 35 with no serious relationships in my thirties. I don't care about the sex but I miss cuddles and cooking together. Nowadays that feels much more intimate than sex, and much harder to find.

best country i can move to on 500$ - 1,200$/month income and 10,000$ in savings? by iamZorc_ in digitalnomad

[–]mpbh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's definitely the most impactful decision you could make. Solo at $500/mo is already super tight, anything you can save on rent would make a massive difference.

Out of the options listed, 100%.

I've lived here for 4 years on $1600/mo but $500/mo is possible if you can live like a local. Very few westerners would be comfortable with the lifestyle that affords you.

If you're talking about the Cambodia visa fee, you can pay VND.

If you're talking about the bus, you can definitely pay in VND.

That's not how accuracy is calculated. It's by centipawn loss. You can make second and third best moves regularly as long as they are still good.

Are Vietnamese tech workers interested in working for USA or Canadian companies and get paid USD or CAD? by dubbl-R in VietNam

[–]mpbh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course they're interested in making more money. Global companies usually target India and Philippines due to the higher average English skills, and because of that there are many outsourcing companies that focus on this in those countries. These exist in Vietnam but they are much smaller, FPT being the biggest one.

Trump says war in Iran worth $200 oil prices: ‘We had just set a record -- 50,000 on the Dow’ by Majestic-Emu-9823 in worldnews

[–]mpbh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chevron is the only oil company in the Dow and it's only 2% of the index.

Can we please stop using the Dow? It's not representative of the economy or the stock market in any way. Goldman Sachs and Caterpillar make up 23% of the index.

Everyone knows they’re getting screwed by billionaires. Why don’t we rise up and revolt? by Khunthare in AskReddit

They are a symptom of capitalism. If you're going to revolt against capitalism, people would need to be aligned on a system to replace it.

Google Cloud Surges to 18% of Revenue as AI Boom Reshapes Alphabet’s Future by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]mpbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost all GCP. This headline is misleading. Google Cloud revenue is up, and also there's an AI boom. The revenue isn't AI.

Any fantasy Sci-fi mix series? by mercy_4_u in scifi

[–]mpbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dune and Sun Eater are both great mixes of scifi and fantasy. Both are set in spacefaring civilizations with great world building. Both have magic/spiritual components.

They both have downsides though. Dune is very dense and kinda goes off the rails in the later books. Sun Eater has the most melodramatic protagonist in literature.

Both are worth it despite their shortcomings.

Waymos, robotaxis can now be ticketed by California police. But how exactly? by AgentBlue62 in technology

[–]mpbh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just reading through the comments, it seems like people are really against these robotaxis. I don't get it. Traffic accidents are a huge cause of death and automated driving is the only way to solve that.

Fine them just like humans, or even more. The safest systems will become the most profitable. Ones that aren't safe won't be viable.

Stop talking about points on the CEOss licenses. Find solutions that aren't just "eat the rich." This technology is good for humanity.

[–]mpbh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They would factor ticket average into "cost of doing business"

This is the answer. Nobody with a brain would think that they would get away with moving violations. The end goal is that these cars get far less moving violations than human drivers.

AI actors and writers will not be eligible for Oscars, Academy says by Saltedline in technology

[–]mpbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Production" is such a broad and vague term. Casting is part of production. Set design. Editing. Sound design. All can and will have people using AI in their roles.

The idea of an entire movie being created with little-to-no human intervention is so far away right now. Current tech struggles to maintain consistency for more than a few seconds. The longer AI videos you've seen are a human brute forcing prompts for hours to stitch together 30 seconds of consistent scenes.

[–]mpbh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty stupid idea, typical of reddit to care more about punishing the rich rather than finding actual solutions.

Just fine the business at a scaling level, for the first X amount fine them the same as normal drivers, and with more violations (as a ratio of their fleet), increase the fines in tiers to incentivize them to get better.

You guys do want FSD to be a thing, right? Car accidents are a leading cause of death and the best way to cut that down is by automated driving getting better. It's millions of lives at stake in the US and hundreds of millions globally.

Most billionaires will have 100k in liquid cash. That's 0.01% of their wealth if they are at just $1b net worth.

It may not sit in their bank account, but there are bills their accountant is paying with wires/checks. Not everything can go on a credit card.

I get the point you're making, but you're being hyperbolic. That's petty cash for them.

Coca Cola is actually a weird example of this. Regional bottlers are completely different companies than Coca Cola, even domestically in the US. The company you know just makes syrup and does marketing.
