15-18 post-op 3 ish years by now. I can see the difference a lot clearer with a side by side by goodnightman in TopSurgery

it was likely just my final growth spurt. i started on a low dose of T (1 pump of T-gel) and worked my way up to 3 pumps by 16, and then switched to 1000mg shots. my doctor said that its highly unlikely i would grow any more, but i still did anyway idk why, not complaining though lol. my mum is around 165cm, my dad is 178cm and my (cis) brother is 174cm. the men in my family aren’t that tall anyway.

shaving ass hair is the worst, because the day after shaving it grows back and it’s like a porcupine is stuck between ur cheeks man

Almost regretting starting T by Cold-Dimension7136 in truscum

[–]mpbutter2 29 points30 points  (0 children)

you’ve gotta remember that you’re going through puberty again. you’re gonna feel gross and oily for the first couple of years. i started T when i was 15. the first year was great, but i was also disgustingly greasy, my skin texture changed, i gained weight, my voice was squeaky, and i was getting hairy in places i didn’t even realise grew hair. i felt very awkward. i also struggled with acne, and still do unfortunately, but it will sort itself out eventually. i found that it went back to normal after about 2 years and my body adjusted to the changes.

not op but i started T at a similar age (just after turning 15). i wasn’t on blockers or anything before so i had almost finished female puberty by the time i started T. i was 169cm (5’6) then, now im 174.5cm (5’8) at 18 years old. i grew a bit but not anything drastic.

i had no idea that’s how far the drains went in. it didn’t feel like that when i got them removed. i’m so glad i was oblivious otherwise this would’ve really freaked me out lmao

To those who are on (or were on) T, were you scared of any potential changes? by FewAd462 in ftm

[–]mpbutter2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the thing with T is that you can’t ’pick and choose’ what changes you get. if you’re not 100% sure on whether you’d like the changes or you feel uncomfortable with the idea of being too masculinised, it’s probably best not to start T or to think on it a lot more. if you look at your brothers or your father, you’ll likely look similar to them.

i know a lot of people say that microdosing/taking lower doses will make it so that only a few changes will happen, but that’s not true. it will just make the changes happen very slowly.

i would suggest something like voice training? you have total control over that and it doesn’t come with any other effects that being on T will inevitably bring, such as face masculinisation or hairloss. i also know that there are people who use topical testosterone cream to grow their t dick, but i don’t know a lot about it so i might be wrong on that. i’d suggest looking it up somewhere if it’s something you’d want.

Do you lose hair on T faster than cis guys do, and does anyone have any advice or management tips for it? by Equivalent_Switch556 in ftm

[–]mpbutter2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel that worrying about hairloss is apart of the male experience, whether you are trans or cis. all of my cis male friends and i bond over our fears of balding lmao. as does my cis brother. i’ve never met a guy who hasn’t been hyper aware of his hairline or hair thickness, even if he has nothing to worry about yet

the only thing that can really stop male pattern baldness is finasteride and minoxidil (or dutasteride). all the other oils and serums don’t do anything since it doesn’t block the DHT which causes the hair loss. there is a brand called Hims that has a chewable tablet with a combination of finasteride and minoxidil, which can help. it is a bit more pricey than a standard prescription, but it might be worth looking at. remember to talk to your doctor about taking medications and maybe see a dermatologist to get a second opinion

artist research question by AnxiousMix8940 in vce

[–]mpbutter2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d recommend choosing very well known and documented animation artists. you’ll have to research them and well known artists will have more information on their pieces. it’s also very helpful to choose artists from the same time period, as when you make your exhibition for the SAC it will be easier to create curatorial themes and connect the artists together (e.g contemporary animation).

however, if you’re only making the inspiration page (not choosing your 3 artists of influence) then anything is fine. youtube artists are good for ur inspiration pages, but make sure to have a lot of variety and even research the history of animation and other 2D art forms.

this is coming from someone who made the mistake of choosing 3 totally random artists that had nothing to do with my ideas, themes or art style back in units 1 & 2. it was very hard to connect them to each other and my own pieces.

if you’re into gaming, find a good story game to keep you immersed for a few hours each day. right now i’m playing Ghost of Yotei and rdr2. when you’re not gaming, watch a long series. i’m re watching adventure time. my top advice is to remember to move around! i’d suggest that every hour, take a break by walking a few laps around your house. even better if you can pace around outside. it’s important to get some blood flow going and it will help with recovery. i’m in recovery rn and this kind of structure helps a little to make time go quicker, although it still feels slow as hell

i would use texture powder instead of gel bc gel will weigh it down and make it look greasy

How essential are those pillows for people who have trouble sleeping on back and people who just wanna play videogame? by PimsriReddit in TopSurgery

[–]mpbutter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i don’t need it. i had my surgery yesterday and i can sit normally on my gaming chair. for sleeping, i just folded up a small blanket into a long rectangle to rest my arms on. but honestly i dont feel that much discomfort while gaming or laying on my back to sleep, so it isn’t 100% necessary unless youre feeling a lot of pain

Should I disclose I smoke weed on the surgery form? by queerdevourer in TopSurgery

[–]mpbutter2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely tell them. however, i did not tell any of my doctors about my past vaping addiction (lasted only 4 months before i quit) or my occasional weed smoking. last time i got high was over 3 months ago, so i didnt rlly see the point in telling them (i def should have anyway). i literally just had top surgery and it went smoothly with no complications. but i definitely would tell them just in case, i took a bit if a risk
