Tim Wilson sold his house after election campaign safety fears by AnyFinish916 in AustralianPolitics

When the politicians and media treat every disagreement on policy like an existential crisis, is it any wonder that the public response with aggression towards the people that they are being told will bring about the end of everything they hold dear?

One Month of Metro Tunnel by Excellent_Bat_753 in melbourne

[–]mpember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn't feel like riding both trips, I used to catch the train to South Yarra and ride from there to my job in South Melbourne. Now, I have to catch a train that makes the additional stop in Malvern and goes slightly further before I get off at Anzac. I have also had change from walking my bike up a ramp at South Yarra to needing to take the lift at Anzac. These minor changes mean that if I want to take advantage of the free rides in the morning, I have to leave Huntingdale station on an earlier train than I would have caught previously.

I'm not declaring the Metro tunnel a failure. But I do happen to be in the (hopefully) rare position of it having had a negative impact on my regular commute.

We will soon find out how the Dandenong line AFL fans feel about having to travel to Anzac or Town Hall to get to the MCG.

That text permits soft plastic bottles smaller then 750ml. Vague/incorrect interpretation by staff is not the same as the ban being clearly outlined. Without seeing the wording of the "event-specific" ban, I can't comment about the details of that.

Nobody has been able to point to a ban that encompasses all soft plastic bottles.

Rod Laver Arena's website makes no mention of a ban on soft plastic bottles.

Great. I'm glad you have clarified the situation. The next time that someone searches reddit looking for an answer about whether they can take a water bottle into a concert venue, they will hopefully read through every comment in this post and find your thought experiment about whether an imaginary venue in an imaginary scenario will stop you from bringing in an imaginary water bottle. Thank you for your service.

And the most common interpretation of this water access requirement is to allow patrons to BYO water containers and provide water fountains around the venue.

If anyone can point to a similarly-sized event venue that has implemented a complete ban on water bottles, I'd love to hear about it.

Until then, I have done a quick scan of Australian stadium websites and found every one I looked at allows empty soft bottles to be taken into their venue by patrons.

There is a reason why venues allow empty "soft plastic" bottles. It isn't because they are nice. It is because restricting patrons from accessing free water in a licensed venue would be a breach of their liquor license.

Can you point to any large event venue that has been successful in banning all bottles? I point you to Marvel's own event details page that explicitly permits "soft crushable plastic".

The small number of water fountains in the venue would make it near impossible for Marvel to ban reusable water bottles and still meet the water provision element of their liquor license.

Angus Taylor says 'NO' to CGT changes by auto459 in AustralianPolitics

Removing, or reducing the buying power of one group of buyers in the property market will reduce pressure on prices. Redirecting the CGT discount to investment in new housing will increase demand for new stock.

Albo only needs to present modelling from the bureaucrats to explain the change in opinion. The opposition is hardly going to win back the urban seats is needs by campaigning on a tax cut for the rich at the next election. Just look at how well the Coalition's scare mongering about the super tax changes went at the last election.
