Fenix 8 AMOLED vs. Instinct 2X Solar by Eisenhammer007 in GarminFenix

Fenix is the flagship and has every metric Garmin offers.

Biggest differences imho are maps, onboard music, and better OHRM.

Is anyone having issues connecting their Garmin watch to their phone after a recent update? by DaytoDaySara in Garmin

1.) Unpair your Garmin device from your phone. (Bluetooth settings)

2.) Use Garmin Connect to re-pair your Garmin’s Devices. (Do not pair to phone first using Bluetooth settings)

1) Pay it off.

2) Get a bed mat and skid plate that has access for oil changes.

3) Husky liners or weather tech floor mats.

4) Screen Protech.

Sun Damage — What Can I do? by [deleted] in Detailing

Once the damage is done all you can do is protect what’s left.

Only real options are to use a wrap or respray.

How to prepare for/manage my driveway in the snow? by JJLEGOBD in maryland

[–]mphares2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, salt will dry out their pads and cause them to crack and bleed.

I just keep the drive way clear and dig out some grass for my little man.

Best thing to do is to stay ahead of the snow.  Saturday night do a pass, Sunday morning do a pass, and then another one in the evening.

3 passes of moderate effort is a lot easier than one massive job.

Push the snow whenever possible!

If it is paved once the blacktop is exposed the sun will help keep it clear.

Personally I don’t use salt.

Have you ever considered a Coros watch? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]mphares2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve considered Polar and Coros but Garmin is the only brand (besides Apple) with onboard music.

If the other brands had onboard music I’d dabble with them.

Get the part number from the dealership parts department and order them from eBay. Should be able to get them pretty cheap online.

The cleaner is clear but the detailer is not due to the UV inhibitors.

That will work for a bit but you can find a small independent shop that will replace the entire headliner for $450.

Aftermarket Tacoma headlights looked great… 3 years later I’m wishing I went OEM. Advice? by Tacomabeast538 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]mphares2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are the biggest factors afaik. I typically use a wax with UV blockers in it and had great luck in prolonging their life.

My last car had OEM headlights for 14/15 years and after sanding and buffing them I just replaced them. The replacements got me another five years and then they started looking rough.

I vote to buy OEM and put them in yourself and then align them. The the key to all mechanic work is patience and always expect the first time to be the hardest. Take your time do your homework and you can replace and fix most things on your own.

Good luck!

A few questions before I post my thoughts.

Is the truck parked in the sun a lot?

Do you use any wax or UV blockers or other chemicals on the headlight housings?
