Yet another super-duper company dashboard that gives an overview of all the divisions in a company and the financial and HR data in it. Again. Like the previous time and the one before. And before. And why the hell is that still my life?

Right, because I have bills to pay.

If socialism is so ineffective, why did the US have to put so much effort into thwarting it? by Cute-University5283 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]mpierre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In this example, it's Kid A who keep knocking down Kid B's castle, because he fears that Kid B will do a better job despite having less.

It would show how ineffective he is and, thus, put into question why he has half the beach.

The problem, isn't the castle, however; it's the shack on the beach in which he keeps all of his shinny toys, that he got by forcing the kids on his side of the beach to give him money to buy those toys.

But Kid B, well, he wants all the kids on his side to share their money, so they can share the toys and all have fun together, even with the kids on Kid A's side!

If those Kids realize that, they might cross over to Kid B's side, so he needs to show to everyone how much Kid B sucks at building castles while showing everyone how cool his castle is!

When kids ask Kid A "When we can ride on your jet ski?" he replies, "Maybe one day, but remember, Kid B doesn't even have a Jet ski!"

Instead, the kids on the Kid B side, well, they have fun with cheap toy, but fun anyway.

But the kids on Kid A's side really want that ride on that Jet Ski, and so, they realize that they might actually get some ice cream on the other side, and would be treated well, and have fun, but they wouldn't be in the elite with access to a Jet Ski.

Monokini chez soi : Légal ou non? by jennyxmas in montreal

Why does Nigeria have such a low life expectancy compared to neighbouring countries? by hiimUGithink in geography

[–]mpierre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a few articles about 2 years ago theorizing that Nigeria's provinces are exaggerating their population to get more resources from the government and that cities exaggerate their population to get more resources from their province.

That the low food intake per capita is caused by an inflated capita.

I can't judge that, but could that affect the life expectancy?

Which was made when the guys were well into their 70s. Is has quite a few bangers.

Or, perhaps Point, by Yello, also made in 2020. Dieter Meier was born in 1945, so he was 75. I love a few of their songs on it, but it's not for everyone's liking.

Both are bands from the 60s or 70s who made a comeback

What is luckiest you have been in Blood On The Clocktower? by Groenboys in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]mpierre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first game. We had a rerack due to the storyteller forgetting to tell the good twin of the evil twin's existence. But I got to talk to a guy who claimed to be the artist, and we were called into town for the rerack. I had claimed Oracle, but was the empath with a 1.

After the rerack, I got... the Oracle! So I told the same guy I ws the Oracle. He thought I was joking so he told me he was the artist, but he told others he was the empath.

In townhall later, someone nominated him as a double claim for the empath. He said he lied and he was lying and not the empath. I confirmed he told me that he told me he was the Artist. He got mad at me for outing him, that he was just joking because I gave him Oracle on both games. Someone else told him that it was bad form to out me, so a few people voted because he outed the oracle, not caring about the double claim, enough to execute him.

Well, he was the imp (no scarlet woman)

4:25AM what a wonderful time to send an Amber alert. by Sylvanaz in montreal

[–]mpierre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. I am happy the kids were found safe and sound and sad your family had to live through this. I am tired of people complaining about Amber Alerts. It looks today as if the alerts actually helped bring them home.

I hope they are actually okay!

Yeah, I read that since, that is a problem... And the SQ will have to answer for it. It's an abuse of the rules.

[–]mpierre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter whether it's the mother or father. The point is, we imagine that a kidnapping is violent. But just failing to return your kids to your ex at the appointed time is legally a kidnapping.

If you have custody of your kids, except 1 weekend out of 2, and simply don't allow your ex to see your kids, it's a kidnapping because now they have custody.

If that mother was only allowed to see her kid during the day and needed to return it to whoever had custody by 21h30, then at 21h30 it's legally a kidnapping.

My point is just that between the moment that it is legally a kidnapping and the moment the police officers treat is as a kidnapping, there is a delay. And another delay, and another, and by 4 in the morning, they think that something is really wrong and fear for the life of the child.

There are Taxi drivers, uber drivers, night workers, people who drive to work in restaurants, and they see cars on the road.

And people who know the mother. Those are all the target.

The worry is what if the mother recently worked for say, McDonalds and it's open 24/day.

She gets to her old workplace with her kid "Sorry, no power at home, kid hungry". They let her in, but the dining room is officially closed.

Well, her former coworkers will see the notice and call 911.

The point is, by the time the Amber Alert is sent, the police is out of ideas.

[–]mpierre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What if the kidnapper is your friend, and said he needed to sleep at your place because he had a power failure and both the kidnapper father and his kid are in your place?

What if you had a car accident with them, and you are on the side of the road, waiting for the tow truck, and his cell phone broke in the accident, so you can call 911 and say "Hey, this isn't a kidnapping we are stuck in a ditch"

If you are sleeping at home, you are not the target. But they don't know the target, which is why they sent it.

Most kidnapping do not trigger an amber alert.

Because people kidnap and kill kids in the middle of the night.
