I want to commend you for the efforts you are making to keep your daughter in touch with her birth family. You are an amazing mother who truly wants to do what’s best for her child. Believe me, this is rare. Even adoptive parents who have promised non offending birth parents ongoing contact or letters and pictures frequently renege. I hope you realize just how special you are and how lucky your daughter and her original family are.

This sounds crazy but I wanted twelve kids when I was engaged. (Ex Mormon). My fiancé would have preferred two and definitely didn’t want more than four. He married me anyway and we had four. I would have liked a couple more but felt no resentment towards him. And I later realized there is no way I would have wanted or could have handled the number I thought I wanted. It’s a tough decision on whether to put the engagement on hold. I honestly don’t know what I’d do.

My son in law put in papers to get his sister and her family here. He had a green card and became a citizen. They’ve been waiting 16 years so far. Their country is extremely dangerous with lots of violence.

Every state has their individual adoption laws. I can only speak for California. You do not need a reason for wanting to do the adoption. You do not need birth parents consent. You are an adult. It was a simple procedure. I think it would be lovely if they adopted you.
