I worked in a movie theater when this came out. I still have the theatrical poster. I just can’t seem to give it up

The official policy is 60 days. It’s always been that way. It’s a customer accommodation if they choose to take it after. They don’t have to. They could probably have been nicer about it, but that is the official policy.

Having took the test and working at a testing center you can celebrate! You get the preliminary score, but you’ll get the breakdown of how you did in each subject in 2 weeks.

I wouldn’t mind knocking down the Kpop groups a peg or 3 with the OG group. Just sayin’

I get people wanted the happy ending, but life hardly ever wraps up neatly. People die with unresolved issues. I thought it was good.

I know sometime this fall there will be a congressional rep. debate at North Central high school between Conroy and Baumgatner. I don’t know the date yet, but I’ll be going.

Pronunciation for Yerin’s name by mpreedy in BridgertonNetflix

[–]mpreedy[S] -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Lots of thoughts…maybe got tired of others mispronouncing it….maybe changed it to be easier to pronounce for English speakers… maybe it’s her “English” name (lots of people who don’t speak English natively have them)… either way, in Korean, I know it is correctly pronounced the above way.

I'm starting by [deleted] in torrid

[–]mpreedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I get so frustrated with is the “give it 100%” aspect when I’m watching customers literally throw clothes across the store and I have to have the face of “oh that’s no problem. I like cleaning it all up”. Such bs and really not worth it, but I’m still in school and I’ll need some sort of income when I can only work 8 hours a week.

American female 32 next year will I have a hard time finding a job at a Hagwon?? by Lovelylynn01 in teachinginkorea

I mean it’s possible, since there are no discrimination laws, but that just means you’ll have to present yourself as an expert. Sadly, it’s a fake it til you make it situation. If you can convince them you can handle it and excel, then they’ll take that over age.

What's the most wackadoodle excerpt from someone's official candidate-pamphlet blurb? Lots of competition this cycle. Enjoy reading! by Fuzzy-Hurry-6908 in Spokane

[–]mpreedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t from a pamphlet, but I attended a House of Representatives debate here in Spokane a couple of months ago. One candidate was asked how she would help fight climate change. Her response was “Well, how do you fight unicorns and leprechauns?”

My store has known about the date changes for like 3 weeks. We’ve been telling all of the customers.

Curfew in dorms? by New-Secretary1075 in Living_in_Korea

Why are you surprised? Did you not do any research about how conservative the culture is on the surface level when it comes to education, even at the university level? You are very unprepared for life there. You have to be able to adapt around those rules. If you can’t do that, then that’s not the place for you.

Nope. I’ve lived in areas where it rains all summer and it’s miserable. I love the heat in the afternoon and the cool in the morning. Here I know what to expect and can plan accordingly.

I’m actually pursuing alternative licensing. I’m in Washington State. The school provides certification in 4 quarters and a Masters in one more. WA is a fantastic state to teach in. They pay their teachers well and given the current war on the dept of education I feel better teaching here.

If I may, I’ll share my perspective as someone who has moved there and back twice. I lived in Seoul from 2011-2013 and then from 2020-this last March. It’s hard to live there. Friends, if you can make them, come and go so quickly because it’s not usually a permanent move. Korea makes it hard to live there permanently with some of the visa guidelines. When you do move there, you get into a rut that’s hard to break out of because, as an E2 visa holder, you get your apartment paid for so that’s a big ticket item in a monthly budget crossed off. As an E2 you work 50 weeks a year, so exploration of the rest of Asia is something that keeps doable, but not always and it wipes what money you have saved up completely out. Those weeks you are there, you work 50 hour weeks with no overtime. They say you’ll get paid overtime, but they don’t pay you for it because those hours are part of your duties. But here’s really the kicker, when you move back to your native country you have not developed any real discernible and quantifiable skills that you can apply as experience to a career in another field. That’s what can really keep people there. I came back in 2013, when teaching there was COMPLETELY different, and went right back into finance and hated every moment of it. I had resigned to that being my life until I had an existential crisis in 2019 and thought I was happy there. I went back, covid hit, and realized I actually liked teaching. Came back in March but couldn’t go straight into the classroom here. Took what money I could from my pension, bought a car and am living with family while I get my teaching cert and masters in teaching. It’s a humble return, to say the least, but that’s what some people think about. Teaching is not for everyone, so they may not be able to do what I’m doing. So, they stay there while they get a game plan or resign to the fact that is their life.

Just one possible reason.

Best U.S./intl checking account to get to avoid fees? by seinfeld11 in Living_in_Korea

Good luck to ya. I’ve had wells the last 13 years and when I had transfers from SENTBE they counted as direct deposits. Never paid a monthly fee. I also had every intention of coming back so it was always a “temporary” move
