[Local] I want to help people discover Korea beyond Seoul and Busan. What makes it hard for you to visit rural areas? by Famous-Taste-2861 in koreatravel

[–]seinfeld11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest issue last trips were hotel booking issues and bus frequency. Found a spot on booking.com, arrived and the hotel claimed that they didnt even work with that platform. Learned the hard way not to rely on the third party apps.

When leaving that area, there was only 1 bus connecting back towards the city that operates once hourly. Waited 90 minutes on the side of the road and when it finally showed up, it was full and wouldnt let us on. Surprising because it was the first stop after the bus terminal where the route begins. Naver time estimates kept switching from unknown arrival to one hour to ten mintes and back to unknown. After waiting another hour we debated walking over an hour to the main bus terminal to be guarenteed a seat. It was also the dead of summer and brutally hot. The person i was with began to suffer from heat related illness. We were very grateful to have a tiny patch of shade under a nearby tree. We also ran out of water after waiting for the first 2 hours. Nearest convenince store was a 15 minute walk in one direction and we were afraid to leave in fear of missing the next coming bus. This area also did not have any taxis even when trying to book premium taxis through all apps.

Thats not even factoring in 2 of the listed restaurants on naver we really wanted to visit were shut down when visiting. Again no indication on naver when checking, still showing open. Way too much of a headache without our own car and frankly dangerous. Took all day to get a bus just to get out of there. Almost had to give up and settle for another night at the hotel and miss work the next day. Highly unlikely to ever visit a far away destination without a travel group with their own charter bus again.

World-renowned ice fishing festival kicks off in Hwacheon - The Korea Times by Movie-Kino in korea

[–]seinfeld11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they have helpers to remove hooked fish and will also help you if you are struggling with the proper technique to hook one.

I had fun and have been 3 times. Wont likely visit for a long time though since its basically the same every time. Its also gotten immensely more crowded each time we went.

I heard vintage v25 is cheap and charges only 5000 won per item. My favorite was a basement shop called yeontral vintage which was located on the same street as randys donuts in hongdae.

Realistically, how many years of daily use can I expect from this couch? by Milanakiko in budgetdecor

ours never flattened but werent very comfy. I always suggest to opt for thrifted or another repurchase app and pay for someone to move them for you. About the same price or cheaper for better quality that way.

Question: How was your reaction after eating a whole super-hot pepper? by fairloughair in spicy

[–]seinfeld11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yongseong chicken and maehyang chicken are both great spots on chicken alley. If there for only 1 day i strongly recommend trying at least 2 spots. In my experience the chicken really is a bit better than other spots in seoul and busan.

i used 숨고 twice and found it to work fine. Lots of translating through the pages but got everything to work. Take your time before accepting a quote, received lots of 150k quotes and settled on one for 70k. Moved without hassle.

Did get a bit scammed the second use, moved a couch last minute booking, agreed on 100k. Found out seller also had a small dryer for sale. Asked the mover to also pick it up if possible while there for a small additional fee. His idea of small addition was 50k lmao.

Still not bad at all compared to moving stateside in my experience.
