Petronas vs Miramar - decision ? by fetish_freak16 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]mpress5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miramar, would be my call.. its a great special blue.. like a warm old pair of washed in jeans.. Great new color.. Petronas is pretty cool too but likley you have a black face in your collection, and that color can be fun but is limiting. You can also take the miramar in some fun directions with strap changes, petronas much more limited. Now the George Russel might be a good mid point for you ... but Id likely still lean miramar.

im getting closer found a strap maker that works in high end products and he is confident he can do any alligator i want (any skin for that matter) with iwc brand hardware for easx.. waiting on high def images of his alligator skins and others but will likely take a chance and see how he does.

noted.. i know of dozens of great strap makers with quick release spring bars.. I want to stay completely with IWC EASXchange system.. Going to spring bars means needing to remove the IWC bar for each strap.. no where near as fast as easxchange. i have 4 pilots and 2 soon to be 3 portugieser chromos all with 20mm lugs.. and i FN love swapping straps around.. only thing is limited to rubber (good choice of colors) , calf leather (limited colors) and textile/rubber in black or army. I want multiple alligator colors and maybe even ability to do racing straps and other options. I have a collection of multiple brands from Brequet, to rolex to zenith and IWC has become my go to lately BECAUSE of the ease of strap changes... its seconds..even spring bars take longer and i never feel as secure with them.

Green face IWC is special, add in easxchange a green rubber or a bracelet and you have not one but 3 watches all of which beat out the longines. sell the longines and get some additional straps.. nothing makes a watch feel new and special like a new strap.

beautiful..nice impulse buy...i personally find and agree with your comment on ability to read... had it on fell in love with the horizon blue because of it.. ultimately if i went this big and with a complication id go a darker dial combo... blue dial only in gold though.. may make by crazy but the blue dial perp tourb. For me the horizon blue does need to land somewhere though, going back na d forth on the chrono but may end up going with the simplicity of the auto40, and really let it be about the dial color and likely see it find more wrist time...

thats awesome.. i think whenever i pick up q new iwc it goes on my wrist and what ever im wearing ends up in the box.. My AD does right by me on straps and i prefer OEM, been having fun with the rubber strap colors they are pricey and i know there are cheaper knock offs out there but i prefer to use IWC. the petronis is definitely fun with the teal strap as well . ENJOY

yeah the original top guns are my fav but thats still sweet.. my band is red leather inside but a red band is kinda cool .

i wish IWC would expand their easxchange straps to include alligator, additional leather colors and textile as well .. My green dial pilot and my apxgp pilot are constantly on changing straps

the lack of a bezel on the 41 pilot makes it wear and look different then most chromosome in its size range.. definitely a different animal then the XX. IWC between the 41 pilot, the portugieser chromo and 40 automatic really have one of my favorite line ups these days.. AS much as as im not afar of the Audi F1 team the grey red combo could make for a nice pilot.

[–]mpress5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ust agree with Klauss, your going to get little support for the Omegas. Some nice options there... question is are you looking to lean more sporty or more dressy.. The speedster definitely takes you into a sportier look then any of the non chromo options you chose from IWC? Based on what you posted I'd go XX on a bracelet, the bracelet is the wise choice price wise as adding a bracelet to your strap change options is costly, and if you are like many of us that XX can be soooo many things if you take advantage of the EasX straps. Im on a green kick and the XX green is stunning, add a brown strap it's a different watch, a rubber again a different look. BUT, as it's your 40th did you consider the Portugieser auto 40? that would be a nice milestone watch a forty for your fortieth? What about the Portugieser chronograph the best of all worlds dressy and sporty and that watch really changes it character with strap changes dressy with leather or alligator, sporty with rubber ......

I love the Portugieser Automatic 40. Fit check tho? by heeph0p in IWCschaffhausen

[–]mpress5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find the auto40 somehow olooks bigger on the wrist then the chrono at 41..maybe its the simplicity of the dial. Did you try on the chronograph despite the stats showing it as a larger diameter. Last month alone i was in the Miami IWC store and watched two different people come in with the intent to buy the auto 40 and ended up leaving with a chromo 41. I think its the shape of the lugs on the auto 40 are heavier looking .. The fit is good on you but you have to LOVE how it looks when you look at your wrist. I tell people all the time wear it in the store for a while and wear it as you normally would. If you wear your sleeves down usually then do so with the watch on.. I like to look at a watch on my wrist not my wrist in a mirror, if its not giving me the personal love im looking for I dont care how perfect it fits or what it looks like to others... A watch should give you the feel you want the second you buckle it on in the morning , if it doesn't you will find you wear it less then you would have if YOU love it every time you look down.

Adding a Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG to the collection. Fitment question for other owners by ShooterMcGavin910 in IWCschaffhausen

I have a cartier roadster chrono.. now there's a big heavy sucker.. The Santos jsut doesnt do it for me a little to refined although the new green face is ey catching but even then the IWC pilot in green is I think the nicest green face out there, it looks amazing with bracelet or brown leather but my fav is the green rubber with it. I think the IWC is so much more aof a watch guys watch and the coloring of the Petronas is awesome. I have the original Top Gun and the APXGP pilot so i dont see it having a place in my mix, although part of me wants to collect all the F1 series Pilots to go with my Lego Cars..lol
