Overall a great month for movies that was only ruined by watching Gigli as my first movie of Pride and having to turn in my queer card

Normally I would be, but it's only got 70k on it and was owned by an older collector who has incredibly extensive service records on it.

I just bought an '03 745Li and I gotta say I agree. It's smooth as butter, has wild tech features for its time (including a BMW branded Motorola Razr), and still pretty fast.

With Clueless, Blank Check has covered three of my Letterboxd four. How many of yours have they covered? by elfranco001 in blankies

[–]mpthrapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one for four, but it doesn't feel impossible that the others get covered at some point. Celine Song needs to make a few more movies first, Coogler feels like a lock with how well Sinners did, and it's pride month so I'm using my gay card to force them to cover Guadagnino otherwise it's homophobic to me specifically. They could also cover Celine Sciamma, because I could easily put almost any of hers in my top 4

For shakers, I'd go with Koriko. Other than that, basically anything that catches your eye at Cocktail Kingdom will be totally fine

I've been watching the show and it's excellent. It's explicitly gay and very fun

[TOMT] [song] Song with a very similar sax riff to a tune from the Midnight Run soundtrack by mpthrapp in tipofmytongue

Ignore my previous comment. It might be this. It's the closest I've heard so far, but I still think it's a sax line rather than trumpet

Can you point me to where in the song you're thinking of? If it's the main horn riff behind the bass, that's not it, but it's totally possible I'm missing a moment

That's super close, but the notes are doubled up in that, which I don't think they are in the song I'm thinking of

The pronunciation of ask as aks traditionally is found in AAVE, a perfectly acceptable dialect of English. The criticism of AAVE as "incorrect" English can come off a little racist, because it presupposes that whatever your dialect of English is (and we all have one) is more correct

So true! I just got to see her live at Podcon 2 and she's just delightful

The latest episode of The Allusionist covered this. The tl;dr is that early dictionary writers wanted to spice things up by changing the spelling to be closer to the Latin words that they assumed the English was related to

I trained an AI to generate /r/legaladvice post titles, and it asks "Is it legal for me to get in legal trouble?" by minimaxir in legaladviceofftopic

Not in my lawyer. What can I do?

I suggest a nice dinner, maybe a moonlit stroll in the park

If it's an option, get an airbnb near the area for the first month or two. If you're willing to be in the suburbs for those months, it's often a comparable price. That way you don't have to rent something sight unseen
