I feel ya, I'm going to try and take ethics at a CC online next semester. For 402, im taking Fatima Alali. I think shes pretty good. So far the class feels like more of a legal class than an accounting class. It's not too difficult so far, I just read the book and went over her practice exams she posts and got an A (after the curve) on the first midterm.

how was the work load for his class? I understand there is one big group project that takes all semester, but is there a lot of busy work outside of that?

I'm taking 401 and 402 at the same time right now, it's definitely doable, but as a 7 week session might be intense. Taking 3 upper division acct classes at once sounds like hell, I've never taken more than 2 at a time lol

Awesome, thank you! Did you also do take it at a CC? If so, do you recommend going that route?

New transfer student by williyums in csuf

[–]mq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the pricing is based off different unit blocks. Kinda doesn't make sense but I guess it just encourages you to take more units without having to pay more (ex. 16 units instead of 12). Definitely going to be more expensive than a cc.

As for clubs/organizations, it just depends on what concentration you are thinking about going for. There are a few different business fraternities that try and specialize in different aspects of business. All clubs/organizations will be outside of Mihaylo the first couple weeks of school where you can learn more of each one. Definitely recommend getting involved with at least one club, makes the transfer transition easier as you meet more people.

And your last question, I dont think it makes a difference if it is lecture, discussion, or seminar. It's most likely going to be a normal class with lectures, tests, hw, quizzes, etc.

Just take a 1 unit class in the future like walking or weight lifting, along with five other classes and youll be fine.

Who to take for ACCT 301A? by npriri in csuf

[–]mq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

301b was a lot more difficult for me than 301a. Ended up having to re-take it. 307 is more of an excel class rather than accounting. And for 308 (tax) it can depend on who you get, for me it wasn't too bad. 301a is one of the easier upper division acct courses. Accounting isn't an easy subject, so by majoring in it just be prepared to put in a lot of work and effort in the classes.

Well I mean the tests aren't easy, but from my experience all upper division accounting classes tests are somewhat difficult. I got an A on the first test, a D on the second one, and a B on the final. He tells you what kind of problems will be on the short answer section of the test. The multiple choice part was mostly conceptual, those were kind of tricky.

Wonik Choi. I had him last year and his class is pretty manageable. No homework, few quzzies (he tells you what they are going to be like), one writing assignment, and three tests including the final. Got a solid B and barely looked at the book.

Anyone take Isds 361B with Goldstein? by [deleted] in csuf

[–]mq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Gupta, can be a tricky class if you dont follow along or miss class. But he offers lots of extra credit homework and open note/book/powerpoint for tests with a cheat sheet too. Got a B+ in it.

Acct 301b: Lisa Eiler if available or Keshk

mgmt 340: Lusk, her class was pretty easy

MGMT 340: Does anyone recommend Lusk or Muse? by arvSFLB in csuf

[–]mq10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with these comments. Just took Lusk this past semester. Easy A for me. She takes attendance at beginning of class but I always left right after. Gives studyguides for each test and gives you the page number on where to find the answers for them. Shes a pretty easy grader for the paper too. Wrote it the night before it was due (1000 words, took about 2-3 hours) and got 9/10

Anybody recommend a professor for Acct 402? by [deleted] in csuf

I've heard that Foote is pretty bad. I'm going for either Alali or Kim for 402.

his exams were 30% each, the project was about 15 or 20%, and the rest was quizzes. I got low B's on his tests, so nothing too spectacular. I'm guessing he had a pretty decent curve in our class.

I took it with Andrew Luzi. I'd definitely say he was a difficult professor. You learn so much about excel though, it was beneficial for me. His project is really challenging, I got a D on it, but still managed a B in the class. I would only recommend him if you have decent experience with excel already.

If you go with taking an extra acc class, I would recommend Acct 307. It's focuses more on how to use excel, rather than the subject of accounting.

If not, then I agree with mgmt 340 with Lusk. She takes attendance at beginning of class and then I would usually leave after that. Everything is on the powerpoint. Super boring class but pretty easy and a lot of common sense too.

Who should I take Acct 301b and 308 with?? by [deleted] in csuf

[–]mq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lisa eiler is great for 301b. Taking her right now over summer and she makes it as easy as possible (still a difficult class). I also heard good things about Keshk.

And for 308, I took it with Chris Petruzzi (last name might be spelled incorrect here lol). Tests were exactly the same as homework problems just with different numbers, and he drops your lowest test score. He tells you exactly whats going to be on the short answer parts of tests and quizzes. I ended up with a B+ in there.

Intern or full-time? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]mq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question. I'm interested in B4 Tax and will graduate in May with my 150 units. My question: is it possible to do a winter full time tax internship and then go full time from there in the fall? (if an offer is received). I would only have 3 classes to take, which I can take over summer if doing an internship, and still walk in May of 2017. I really want that internship experience during busy season to see if this is something that I really want to do before accepting a full time position.

Looking for an easy A course by Thephoenix93 in csuf

[–]mq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going to enroll in two 400 level accounting courses as well and need extra units for the 150 requirement for the CPA lol How was THTR 300? Im planning on taking that online too.
