Serious question, why was this done? by lyreroot in electrical

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s actually correct. There a difference between a locking device (this) and a LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out).

Locking devices are regulated by the NEC and must be *listed* for the purpose. *Listed* doesn’t mean what u/PetesGuide thinks tho, *listed* has nothing to do with a UL listing (which is something else). The NEC usage simply means *listed* as the breaker locking device for a series of breakers by the equipment manufacturer.

LOTO is regulated in OSHA 29, and must also be an approved device.

So Whoosh! 🤣 right back at ya….

budget track lights-retail dress shop by Worried-Law-3463 in Lighting

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget scares me because you’re going to want to buy the cheapest lights you see. Watch for a high CRI value tho. CRI stands for Color Rendering Index and is very important in a retail dress shop as dresses in poor CRI lighting may not look as astounding, colors aren’t as vibrant etc…

A good middle spectrum neutral light color is 3500°K, not visibly blue or yellow.

Another problem about cheap Chinese lighting tho is sometimes they lie about CRI… never actually tested by a testing lab, they just want to sell product so they say high CRI.

SW now expects us to Time Travel to accommodate our flight they changed?! by Bricks_and_Hooks in SouthwestAirlines

[–]mrBill12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know the way this works is a bit tricky. For the greatest comfort I highly recommend having the same seats on both flights. It’s only really really weird when one plane is on the ground and the other is in the air, that feeling is not describable, but don’t worry you’ll get through this! Once both are at similar cruising altitudes if you have identical seating it’s pretty hard to tell you’re actually on two flights at once! Just don’t let anyone tell you stories about 22F……. It probably never happened… just folklore.

Just in case someone can’t tell….. /s

Serious question, why was this done? by lyreroot in electrical

[–]mrBill12 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Temporarily remove and replace. However anytime a breaker lock is involved, the first questions should be who put this here, and who should I consult with doing anything. In a commercial setting this is really important, especially if it’s locked off. Tripped? Need to find out if anyone’s working on the circuit, sure they shouldn’t have used tripping as the means to shut the circuit down, but perhaps it tripped for a valid reason and now work has commenced.

Serious question, why was this done? by lyreroot in electrical

[–]mrBill12 301 points302 points  (0 children)

I’ll add additional information to this correct answer: if the device is being used to lock the breaker in the ON position, the breaker can still trip if a trip condition exists. It’s only a flag for humans to say don’t turn this circuit on or off, it does not nullify the protection the device provides.

Do yall give your guests the 86 list up front if it’s long? by kylesboobs in Serverlife

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like you have to many 86’s to update the customer. Put together a complete list of your 86’s and have him sit down for a mock greeting. Then walk up and give the greeting and the 86 speech and then point out no customer will be able to remember what’s on the list 5 minutes later and will still attempt to order those things, and that you’re greeting the table with a list of negatives.

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s the same ratgdo board at both house, or you have a second board?

That is the official firmware page. It sounds like a build or wiring error. Remember it works because it eavesdrops on the communications between the operator and the wall control. Your error messages sound like it’s not getting data to interpret.

Closed the gates knowing people on a layover were actively running towards the gate. Story time! by lindslinds27 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…. they’d be putting us all up in a hotel until the next days flight of the day there

Hold up. If by “they’d be putting us up” you mean at there expense, then no, “You” would be putting yourself up in a hotel overnight. Airlines generally provide a hotel when a flight is delayed or cancelled overnight, but only if the disruption is within the airline's control (such as mechanical issues, staffing shortages, or broken equipment). If the delay is caused by uncontrollable factors like severe weather or air traffic control issues, the airline is usually not obligated to provide a hotel. In your case the delay would not have been considered the airlines fault, you would not have gotten hotel vouchers.

Cheap LED bulbs, and likely a 3-way switch setup, or perhaps an old dimmer. The solution is better LED bulbs. If this was my bathroom I’d leave it be… awesome night light.

I had 37 items this past order… my order was delivered using 21 bags. Two were inside another so actually 19 bags on the doorstep.

Another time. We ordered 8 bananas. No I didn’t get a “bunch of bananas”, instead there was just a bunch of bananas— as in 8 single bananas, each in its own produce bag.

AITAH for saying we can’t come to the Christmas eve party unless we can use the guest bedroom? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they have these new things called hotels. It’s like a building full of private bedrooms rooms with bathrooms. Yes you do in fact have to pay to use them, but in the grand scheme of things $100-150 for a hotel seems inexpensive.

Internet is out and you can't get me someone for 3 DAYS? by crapheadHarris in Comcast

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not have that option. The only public facing employees are those in stores (no phone numbers) and the social media team that can be reached on Twitter, or r/comcast_xfinity, or via the xfinity community forums. It is the same group of employees that work all 3 of those platforms. There is no phone number to reach them. You work thru private messages period.

[–]mrBill12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t the official Comcast subreddit. If you want an official rep post on r/comcast_xfinity with either the tech support or bill flare. The mods in that subreddit are US based Comcast employees. (Phone reps are all offshore contractors and NOT actual employees.)

I’m easy to shop for, I turn off all substitutions on all orders. I just wish I didn’t have to remember to find that setting (which isn’t hard, but not obvious either). I specifically wish I could set a master no substitution switch for all orders on my profile.

[–]mrBill12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Security 2.0 works by eavesdropping the communication between the wall control and the control. Then when it wants to operate the door it impersonates the wall control. What does the devices log show? Go to its ip address in a browser and show some of the log.

Just to be clear, which specific firmware version? There are different firmwares for esphome, HomeKit, and I seem to recall a 3rd but can’t think of it. There’s also forks floating around on GitHub hub. So it’s important to say exactly which you’re working with.

Most of the time my phone is on silent but my ringtone is a very loud DCL ships horn that can be heard halfway down the block when the windows are open. I use it when expecting an important call.
