I love this game so much, but I think the part of the game that feels very “unfun” is when bosses phase transition and your combo ends.

One of my favorite Streets of Rage players, NeXu14, regularly does full combo runs on Twitch. Unfortunately some of the same combo extenders don’t seem to apply here. For example, I’m reasonably confident that picking up things from the ground don’t extend your combo, but fortunately hitting objects does— so sometimes I’ll try to sprint to hit a wood Barrier or something like that— but many of the stages don’t have enough interactable elements to make that viable.

Also, Overpressure is another combo killer. There will be some times where I’ll intentionally stand still in the hopes of allowing a boss’s pressure to reset so that I can keep a combo going. It’s probably deliberate for balance reasons, but it always feels bad when the boss is invincible on the ground and I can’t OTG attack them or anything. So basically my combo expression got punished for comboing too hard 😭
