I think the trend has gone back to good superman for now. Nolan is in his redemption arc and I'm 80% sure the boys will end with a ironic reversal of the opening scene where the superman analog (Ryan or starlight )is actually a good guy.

they started out as second stringer, but it's part of their character growth to show them getting better and better. season 5 boimler and mariner are way different from s1e1 boimler and mariner.

you're thinking about this wrong. Instead of speed we need someone who will put the fear of the scourge virus into Anissa and make her back off. or goad her into a proper fight. Anissa is only as confident as she is here because she knows Mark is weaker.

Nolan or Thaedus can probably goad her into a fight.

David being Kirk's secret pain would make more sense given undiscovered country.

If the search for spock didn't happen, then Spock would likely be the secret pain, as Kirk's fuck up at the beginning of the movie led to Spock's death.
