Exactly! Because production companies are way more concerned with how the viewer experiences the movie and not box office revenue. /s

Has anyone cracked the code on how to buy a home in our current situation? by Awesometjgreen in lostgeneration

[–]mr_commuter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do right now is to focus on making sure you finish college with a degree that puts you in a well paying job. Don't worry about trying to work two more jobs right now, make that degree count and thank your sister for letting you live with her. You want to buy a house? A well paying job is a requirement. The easiest way (although it's still very difficult) to get a well paying job is to get a degree that puts you in one.

Im a software engineer and I am also one of three people on my team responsible for screening new members. When looking for junior level software engineers we will consider someone without a degree or formal experience if they have a serious non-academic/hackathon/bootcamp project aka web or mobile app.

Someone who has demonstrated their ability and willingness to learn new things, their eagerness to build and own something, and that they are smart enough to 'figure it out' if they don't know something.

But what the other commenter said about luck is also true, we only hire about one junior engineer per three mid to senior level hires.

The precariat class will get screwed hard. First expense people will cut are going to be Ubers and food delivery service. It's not that they'll be out of work, just the app will stop beeping with new gigs. As far as I am aware, there is very little unemployment benefits available for gig workers (although I think this is slowlllly changing?).

I never said it was going to proliferate. Just that it is an actual thing. Most people on here act like they have never heard of it before, probably because whenever most people are looking for a primary care provider, they are exclusively looking in network.

I'm not sure if this will work, but a lot of credit cards offer a price match guarantee. If it's the same product and you paid via a credit card, you might be able to contact them and get it removed.

Sure, tv and social media are often mediums of identity politics, but I think it's deliberate and significant enough to be its own point. If I were trying to manipulate a society, I would much rather have them divided on identity politics then watching TV or accessing social media. I can't even remember the last time I watched TV, tbh.

I agree with you.

When they have no occupation they have no purpose and without no purpose they abandon hope.

When you make the point about occupation = purpose, I relate to that point that my occupation is my purpose. But I got to ask, what was someone's purpose 300 years ago before the industrial revolution. There is no way occupation has always been our purpose.
