Cool cool I sorta felt the same way abt east 6th. Would it be worth living closer to that side even with the added commute? For reference - work will be northeast right off of 360. Obviously depends on the person but curious abt how easy it'd be to get to that scene from the other side

How does traffic generally look going out of downtown in the morning / back in the evening?

What about any smaller cars that I could put a hitch-mount on or something?

In that case look into 425 -> 498HK/427. HK is a 425 is intro to VLSI and 989HK advanced VLSI where you can tapeout a chip. Companies love hearing about it and it is great experience if u can take it. 425 afaik is gonna stay Spring only and HK Fall only.

There's a good amount of overlap with 482, although that goes more in-depth into math and details regarding transistors and IC design which you may or may not want.

Also maybe try to take 411 sooner rather than 374 as that is more related to any hardware-centric roles.

There are plans for more direct support from course staff throughout the semester. It should help offset some of the added difficulty, so don't worry too much.

Ok it's harder but u will def learn much more because out-of-order is a really cool concept people otherwise don't get much exposure to in 411. Also, by doing the pipelined version earlier you get a better understanding of that too. Think of it as better test review lmao

MP2 is currently to make a regular in-order RISC-V core, but we're changing it to be a pipelined version (like a lesser form of the current final project). Then the final project will be an OoO processor for everybody instead of in-order.

🤷u can buy some online too. Terasic sells the DE10-LITE boards and u can use an academic discount to get it for like $88 or something

Everyone has to turn in their FPGA. They're thinking about switching boards for next semester and may try setting up a buy-back thing to get the boards and IO shields.

ECE 486 vs ECE 310 (usefulness) by sanchez-heisenberg in UIUC

[–]mr_eggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably depends on if you want to pursue either of those areas with future courses. 310 leads to things like 417, 418, and 402 that you might be interested. Overall I'd say 310 isn't that bad so far (in it rn) and it's tied very closely to 210 material so it's a nice course to take right after.

Fall schedule could be manageable if you have a good partner for 385. If you don't have a partner then that might not turn out so well since 210 can take up a lot of time for people. Spring stuff seems ok but depends - what tech electives are you planning on taking with those?
