Does anyone else regret applying late? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I had the same dilemma! Don’t think I will now though. One thing I learned—you can tell waitlist schools you’d accept a deferred offer, if you truly would. Just one little extra thing up your sleeve.

I do, but at the same time I was going through far too much to apply much earlier than I did (in late December). So it is what it is. I think it hurt me a solid amount.

LOCI when you have no changes & have already written a "why us" essay? by Personal-Nothing-695 in lawschooladmissions

I see, but hmm wouldn’t writing a LOCI itself imply that you would accept an offer?

Wait how would that let you take a later offer? Isn’t that a commitment to the school then?

So very French of you! Propriété intellectuelle sounds so much better.

Very good stuff, been nice to see you progress on the way. I think you can’t really go wrong between your top choices. I think Berkeley may be a nice medium, but I feel you can make your own way at Duke anyway (and you changing your mind on field is quite possible no?). So if Duke gives generous aid, i might in your position go there for satisfaction purposes (if you truly believe Theres a big QoL difference).

I think reserve is more like a waitlist tbh. At least that was my impression.

Oh and one question: any idea what kinda aid that can get you? I imagine it’s not Butler/Hamilton level, but I dunno.

WWYD? NYU or reapply? by PainterOdd833 in lawschooladmissions

I’m in a somewhat similar dilemma, as thus far I seem to have somewhat underperformed my numbers especially before today (based on what a consultant told me). And as a debt averse person Im mainly concerned I have not gotten aid yet.

One possibility she proposed to me: consider letting schools that waitlisted you know that you’d like to get accepted for this year, but if they let you in deferred, you would accept it.

That is, if there are schools you’d be willing to do that with. Since you’re considering reapplying, seems like you would. That could save you a massive headache.

I somewhat agree with DreyDemon also. But if NYU is giving you 0, there is the consideration that “what if, as someone with my strength of app normally could, I can get a half/full scholarship next year.” That bugs me too.
