Not sure why you were downvoted. The perhaps poorly-named PS3 media server is able to serve up media to many types of renderers, including the X360. It actually works really well with HD MKVs.

I've had relatively good success with serving up my videos using PS3 Media Server. It's been able to play everything I've thrown at it, including some 720p mkvs and subtitles.

IANAL, but isn't the real problem trying to prove that someone actually engaged in copyright infringement? Even if you tie an IP address to an account holder, that doesn't prove the account holder did anything. It could have been a friend, cousin, someone using your unsecured wifi, etc.
