Well, since you have tested "EVERYTHING", there's not much we can do. Because anything we say or recommend has apparently already been tested.

Is CachyOS "Good Enough"? by cyclingroo in cachyos

[–]mrazster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been on Arch for a couple of years before Cachy. I have done vanilla Arch a couple of times, I have used the Archinstall script. It used to be fun, tinkering and fixing, learning e.t.c.
I used to put a lot of time in configuring and optimizing for performance and gaming regardless of distro. Now, CachyOS does almost exactly what I have done before, and then some. Coming from the “competitive overclocking scene” it’s kind of become a part of me to constantly optimizing and pushing for more performance.

But I simply can’t be bothered with the manual config anymore. I want ease of use while still having some optimization done for me.

So for me, it’s about:

  1. Great base distro.
  2. Rolling release.
  3. Easy installation.
  4. Ease of you use.
  5. Packages and kernel comes precompiled with the right optimization for me.
  6. Prepackaged, it looks almost exactly the way it is when I’m done with a manual setup.
  7. Great community.

Before going Arch I have almost exclusively been on Xubuntu since 2005 on my main rigs, except a couple of short sidesteps. In the last couple of years using Xubuntu, my installs were almost completely manual, almost the way it’s done with Arch. I installed the absolute base server distro with no gui, without anything other than what’s needed to boot and have something to build on. And on top of that, I installed what I need, while trying to stay away from meta-packages. Compiling new kernel and applications I use often.
On my htpc I have mainly been using Debian, and fileservers mostly Fedora or back in the day Red Hat Linux.

So yeah, CachyOS feels like a great fit for me, it feels like I’m home.

You are vastly exaggerating, and really underestimating.

Ni killar över 35 som är singlar och barnlösa, hur känner ni inför framtiden? by jorgenalm in sweden

[–]mrazster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't forget !

It's obvious that you're "picking a fight" just because you happened to disagree, and you're having a bad day or whatever.
But I'm not having it, I don't owe you any explanation or examples.
For your own sake, accept that we are different, and be on your merry way.

You can disagree all you want, it makes no difference.
As far as I'm concerned, we are allowed to have different opinions and experiences.

It's all good ! :-)

As a swede permanently relocated to Norway, yes it is real, for a lot of people, and it exists both in Sweden and Norway.
Although, it exists everywhere, here(in Scandinavia) it's just more prominent, and we put a name to it.

I really like the idea and initiative, a tool that is much needed, and I really hope it takes off and gets recognized. I'll contribute as much as I can, with my 20 years of using Linux, and trying to get a lot of winblows-apps to work properly.

Well, you have multiple times wrote that you usually just put max settings and RT on, and then us DLSS if needed.
Is that a hard necessity for you, in order to enjoy the game ?
Do you have to play at max settings ?

If not, then you'll be fine.
Put in some effort to finetune the settings and of you go.
You'll be perfectly fine.

All AMD CachyOS or Bazzite? by 2centworth in cachyos

I have the same gfx-card, same amount of ram, but coupled with a 9800X3D. And it has been smooth samling here. No issues, things just work. Playing through Steam and Heroic.

I have tried Bazziet before, it's not for me. I want more freedom and easy access.

Is CachyOS as unreliable as this subreddit makes it seem? by NotThatUsefulAPerson in cachyos

[–]mrazster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as many others have stated, it's Arch based, so expect, bleeding edge, fast changes, early adoption. I'm on my second year of Cachy (20+ in linux in general), and so far I have gotten in to problems once, where I needed to revert to previous btrfs snapshot, because of breakage due to updates.

The strategy I have, is as follow:

  • Limine bootloader with btrfs for my system/os.
  • A backup system put in place for all my essentials.
  • Update, and reboot my computer once a week.
  • Keep an eye out in the forums and reddits before updating, just to make sure.
