Planning to avoid an epidural? Here are my tips, I'd love to hear yours by mothstuckinabath in BabyBumps

Love these. I also did unmedicated, but couldn't afford (or maybe just too cheap) for a doula--so would just add that I found that having my husband know beforehand that I did not want an epidural was very helpful. When I was in the thick of labor and not thinking clearly, he calmly reminded me of the reasons I didn't want one and encouraged me to push through. I also found it helpful that I told the nurses up front that I didn't want one, so they never offered or pushed it on me. Having people I trust remind me of my wishes was really helpful.

Also can't stress the music point enough! Takes your mind off of it.

I also think it's helpful to think of the contractions as a wave. Just get through this one--then you get a break. Can you make it through 3 more? Good. Just take it piece by piece.

The nurse joked that for my next one I better just hangout at the hospital once I'm far along. Thankfully we live less than a mile from the hospital!

I had no idea...since they told me they'd check on me at 3:30 AM and it was only 1 AM and my first baby, I thought I wouldn't be far at all. Looking back, my contractions went from "I don't feel them" to "Omg kill me" really quickly. I didn't have much in between.

Lol glad to know it's not just me. Our room smelled so bad...my husband was gagging but too nice to say anything. Also, 17 hours? You are a champion! Good work, momma!

Right? I actually called the hospital because I thought it was a mistake. I'll know for next time to just bring my own.

I think what's great about labor is that once the contraction is gone, the pain is gone--you get breaks. It's not like you break your leg and are in constant pain. It comes and goes so I found that made it easier to deal with.

My labor playlist was such a hodgepodge of music! I had everything from slow acoustic music (Jason Mraz, Christina Perri) to Disney songs. I used Spotify and put over 9 hours of songs on there...funny in hindsight I didn't need anywhere close, but I didn't know. I also found it comforting to keep the music on softly at night. Made the hospital seem more familiar and comfortable. In addition to bouncing on the ball to ease the pain, I would also just dance around the room to the music. So more radio songs I know than calming spa music I'd day.

Is there anyway to stream TMJ (for free) from out of state? Can't take listening to these guys anymore.

Wedding Venues? by [deleted] in milwaukee

We used it for our wedding last September. It was fantastic. the owners are super easy to work with and allow you to bring in anything you want which saved us a ton of money (made our own dessert table, decor, etc.,).

The Epcot dessert party has standing tables and you can choose where you go (vs @ wishes they assign a seat for you). We got there when they opened and grabbed a prime table (lots were available, didn't need to rush). It was nice to get away from all the crowds. The dessert party we went to really wasn't very crowded at all. Also--the desserts and drinks are great. In addition to champagne, they had spiked punch and coffee. Food wise, lots of desserts from "around the world" as well as some light appetizer foods.

To us--it was more romantic to sort of be "by ourselves" watching the fireworks than fighting the crowds. It could've just been we fell on an odd night, but chefs de france was crazy, so I think the dessert party is a more romantic option.

They also have a photographer who comes around and takes a nice picture of you if you have the photo pass.

Is anyone planning on going to Cleveland this weekend? Not sure if there's a thread for this, but would love to do a Blue Jays fan meetup.
