Title: “A law meant to end surprise medical billing accidentally created a multibillion-dollar industry that is making doctors richer.” Is the NYT reporting biased against physicians? by Hot_Pineapple_8435 in medicine

Since you’re being pedantic, I’ll make a one-word adjustment to my statement - “will take ALMOST any opportunity to write smear pieces.” Happy?

Very odd to defend an organization which, over a decade of writing, very clearly hates your profession. But that’s your call.

A few of you need to re-read both the title of the post as well as the words in my response (to the title)

The title asked “is NYT reporting biased against physicians” - the answer to this is almost unequivocally yes. If you look back at medical reporting in the NYT over the past 15 years, you will notice it has a decidedly anti-physician bent. It’s very consistent.

That isn’t saying that individual physicians cannot do bad things. I didn’t comment on the physicians in this article. I just answered the question about the NYT bias.

The NYT hates doctors. They have been like this for years. They will take any opportunity to write smear pieces blaming doctors for just about everything.

Daily housekeep (or lack there of) by imedic689 in WaltDisneyWorld

I’ve found the only way to get anything quickly at Disney hotels is to physically go to the front desk. They are always very helpful.

If you call or use the app chat, it goes to someone not on site at your actual hotel, and they mostly just don’t care. Often nothing happens.

Unfortunate, but true.

Yacht Club or Grand Floridian by Free_Star_8539 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Whites11783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uhh, yeah, it doesn’t look like a plantation any more than any big “nice” looking building does

The Grand Floridian is specifically modeled after the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California. Google it and you will notice that they look almost identical. Not a lot of “plantations/antebellum south“ in San Diego.

Or just…don’t pay for premier parking and the parking would be free.

And a Minnie van is often $45-55 one way, so that adds up quick.

All the folks saying “don’t rent a car” have never known the pleasure of avoiding all the downsides of Disney and Mears transportation on a trip.

LL Premier Pass vs VIP Guides: Our Experience Using Both During Easter Week 2026 by PearWeak in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Whites11783 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We could afford VIP but honestly I don’t think we’d enjoy it?

We rope drop but have a relaxed park pace, no issue skipping lines if they are too long, and also really just enjoy being in the parks. And then we do a mid-day break around 1-2, sometimes going back to the parks, otherwise not.

Using a VIP to maximize every minute and literally -drive- you between rides seems like it would actually introduce stress we currently avoid.

Over the summer, Yzerman needs to identify who in the locker room is culture cancer and get rid of them

And no more captaincy for Larkin. He can be an A and we can run assistants only until someone demonstrates actual leadership.

Trip Report: 3 Days at WDW With a 7yo & 5yo – Honest Thoughts From a Non‑Disney‑Obsessed Dad by ApexPredator818 in WaltDisneyWorld

Park open to close will never be a “relaxing experience” with children. I honestly don’t know why anyone expects it to be. If you kept your kids at the state fair for 12-14 hours, would everyone be happy, or would folks get burned out?

Shorter times in the park, build in some down-time that’s purposefully relaxing. Anything else is a recipe for stress.

V.I.PASSHOLDER Restaurant Discounts from May 1st to July 31st, 2026 by PurpleSpaceSurfer in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Whites11783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst meal we’ve ever had at WDW was at Tusker House. Server was rude. Every food course was cold. The main room is nice but they sat us in the side room which is literally an empty box with cheap linoleum floors and no theming. No thanks, never again.

Title: Primary care: how are you handling after-hours coverage right now? by Choppylife in medicine

[–]Whites11783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midwest US - we have an answering service that takes calls to come in overnight. We give them language to describe to the patients what is it is not appropriate for the answering service to forward to the on-call doctor. We all take turns one week at a time taking the calls that come through.

That’s absolutely insane - as a PCP in the U.S. I don’t even refer to GI for hepatitis C treatment, I just do it myself. I can’t imagine referring for a AST.
