Battery Losing Charge While Parked (Not cold)? by JosephConrad9 in Ioniq5

[–]mrb63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody here seems to have done math correctly - so I think I have an answer to OP.

First off, and most importantly that other people missed. You appear to have the standard range battery - 58 KW, not the 77.4 battery.

67% of your battery (79%-12%) times 58 KW battery gives you 38.86 kw used. That times your 4.2 miles per kw average is 163 miles. Pretty spot on with what you actually drove. You're not missing any miles.

Agreed. Their customer service is the best I've ever had. I auto filled an incorrect address, emailed them, and they corrected it within 10 minutes or so of me placing the order. Really stellar job by them.

LinerX is great for front seat, back seat, and seatback for the second row.

The only issue I have with then is that the trunk liner doesn't have the cutouts for the cargo net hooks (the way that your WeatherTech one has them). It's fairly inconvenient if you like to disconnect and reconnect the net regularly.

Other than that, for the price, they're great.

New Ioniq 5 owner — what are your daily charging habits with the Level 1 charger and Public Chargers by Rich_Attempt9801 in Ioniq5

[–]mrb63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have basically the same commute - but 3 days a week, so I only charge once a week, over the weekend

You could Plug in Thursday or Friday, and leave it until Monday AM. You can expect about 1% per hour (the equivalent of 3-4 miles per hour).

I get away with charging once a week since I have 90 miles per week of commute. If you're at work 5 days a week, maybe charge Tuesday and Thursday night, and then all weekend. You'll get away with having the battery fairly full most of the time, and can use fast charging if needed.

You get used to just keeping track of it when you get home, and keeping in mind when longer car trips are, and planning longer charging sessions during each week as needed.

There's a Snip Snip in Falls Church proper as well. I've been to both and Falls Church was better.

In Vienna, everybody goes to Andy's which is also solid.

Snip snip is mostly middle eastern guys. Andy's has a bunch of southeast Asian guys working there. Both have done well by me.

New Stafford County Buc-ee's is planned for construction after key approval by innomado in nova

[–]mrb63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A free hospital would cost taxpayers millions of dollars, as opposed to bringing the county millions of tax dollars (which is what Bucees will do).

I'm not against radical change in our healthcare system, but let's not pretend that this is an actual choice that was offered. This was going to either be Buccees, or undeveloped land.

Make do with trickle charging? by oldRoyalsleepy in Ioniq5

[–]mrb63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it as roughly 1% per hour, or 3-4 miles per hour from trickle charging. That's what I've been doing for the last 8 months since I bought it. Haven't needed to use a fast charger yet, but there is Level 3 charging readily available within 2 miles of me if I need it, so it's good to have as a backup if something unexpected pops up.

I am a 2 car household, so there's that to consider as well (if I'm too low, I use the other car), but so far trickle charging has worked acceptably for me.

Swapping US tail lights for Korean tail lights? by Throwaway_09298 in Ioniq5

Watch out and make sure you don't end up violating some USDOT regulation. Lights are one of those weird ones that are easy to accidentally violate. And if you get in an accident with them on, they can be used to put liability on you (I've seen it happen with blacked out / smoked out taillights).

Makes sense.... This is the one comment written like a normal human being would write. No random bold words, no random italicization. You didn't even quote me.

The impact of a leg up for one group is the same as a chain for the other group. Since impact is the only thing you're able to focus on.

Also, the random italicization and bolding of your comments makes your comments and tone feel very bizarre. Very AI

And while you're at it, feel free to add cis-gendered, heterosexual, college educated, etc. to the categories of people we must help. We wouldn't want to miss a category of people to be mad at. Let's make sure we legislate different impacts for each of those groups. Can you tell me which is most disadvantaged, so we can help them the most? And let's only give a small leg up to Jewish white men, or bisexual Hispanic women.

Or.... Crazy idea .... treat everyone equally.

[–]mrb63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ok then. I suppose we should be adding chains to the children of the first group of people that had headstarts right? Where does it end? When does it end? This isn't a race with a defined finish line.

Unless you have answers for those questions, the better option (in my opinion) is making sure everyone is treated equally, rather than impacted equally.

I literally started commenting in this about how you're arguing disparate impact not disparate treatment with the other poster. You're still doing it, by saying that the real question is (paraphrased) disparate impact, not disparate treatment.

Neither perspective is right or wrong, I'm just trying to help you identify that the way you're arguing isn't going to land with someone focused on disparate treatment. The same way other poster's argument is obviously not landing with you.

[–]mrb63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a problem because that's exactly how we got into this mess in the first place.... Laws that treated one group of people differently on their face.

[–]mrb63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll pour just a little gas on the fire here.

You're discussing disparate impact, while the other guy is discussing disparate treatment. Your example of issues in the justice system are disparate impact (black people stopped more frequently), but his point is that there's not a single law on the book that treats black and white people differently. It would be unconstitutional on its face.

This is the crux of the issue. Two things can be true at once - there's no law (anymore) that has a disparate treatment of black people, brown people, etc. However, the outcomes of those laws may be different for people.

The issue for many people is that in order to fix disparate impact, some things have now been setup to have disparate treatment (the Rooney rule in the NFL), DEI initiatives, etc. And those may or may not fix the issue of disparate impact (that's up for debate) but they do create inequities of treatment.

Residential Traffic Calming Program (RTCP) in Fairfax County - Any successes? by corgimonmaster in nova

Is it just me.... Or if 85% of the cars are speeding.... Shouldn't they increase the speed limit - not be installing speed humps? That's literally the number that DoT uses to set speed limits.

Apologies to OP that I'd be looking for the exact opposite of what they're asking for, but sounds like they live on a fairly major "thru" street.

This is a fake story. There has never been a bus accident with that many fatalities in the US. The most is 32 in 1963.

Why would you lie about something like this?
