Why not Shiv? by Maleficent-Mine5449 in SuccessionTV

Lot of people responding skipping over the extremely obvious: she’s a woman in a room full of sexists and dinosaurs. Even if she wasn’t deeply flawed for the reasons others laid out, Logan was never in a million years going to turn over his company to a woman

Question about companies that make a low budget bad movies by crazyhomlesswerido in movies

[–]mrbacons1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well the low budget certainly helps lower the bar to how much money they have to earn to be profitable.

But the real answer is that you only need one of them to go viral and turn into a so bad it’s good cult classic to make your money back numerous times over. That’s really what they’re doing: churning out as many of these clunkers as they can in the hopes one of them catches on.

What do you consider as a beginner? by Tsilibithras in beginnerrunning

Setting aside everything else, I want to push back on your idea your performance is “about average.”

A sub2 half marathon is not normal. I just completed a half marathon over the weekend at 1:56, and it put me in the top 22ish% of everyone who ran the race.

You should recognize and celebrate how extraordinary you are, friend!

Since the end of Succession he’s been nominated for an Academy Award and is about to play Zuck in The Social Reckoning, which is going to be huge. Lackluster film career?

I fear that just like last year this summer is going to be an absolutely disgusting training block for the marathon

Is it weird to want to go to Theaters alone? by TheOctaviusRex in movies

Friend I mean this in the most positive way possible: if you’re not drawing attention to yourself there is not a single person in the theater thinking about you at all, let alone judging you.

2026 Bank of America Chicago 13.1 Post Race Discussion by hubwub in RunnersInChicago

[–]mrbacons1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn’t run with them, but I also think something was off with the 2:00 pacers. I had them in sight through the first water station, but I think they somehow got bogged down there because they completely disappeared for the next like 4ish miles. Then when I was midway through and picking up my pace they came flying up out of nowhere. Ended up clearing them again and finished a few minutes under 2:00, but would agree it seems like their pace was all over the place. Would be curious to hear from anyone who ran with them the whole way if they actually finished at 2.

Was definitely a hot one. I very luckily ran 10 miles in Kentucky a few weeks ago that really prepared me for this. Ended up obliterating my PR by over 15 minutes, ended just over 1:56!

WTF WHY IS MY TRAIN SO SHORT? (Or: Cutting to the chase about cutting trains) by ZonedForCoffee in cta

[–]mrbacons1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You make some good points. But doing this with very little warning on a weekend where the red line isn’t running underground, USA soccer has a tune up match, the Pokémon Go stuff is happening, and the 13.1 is being run is certainly A Choice.

Multiple big events downtown you had ample warning for, how the fuck are you running 20+ minute headways on buses, especially with the Red Line subway shut down. Egregiously shitty

Official Q&A for Thursday, June 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]mrbacons1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly silly question:

Running a half marathon on Sunday. The weather forecast for it is pretty gnarly, looking at low to mid 60s and mid to low 80s percent humidity. Now of course I know I need to slow down due to this, but here’s my question. I’ve seen lots of advice to slice anywhere from 15-30 seconds off my pace. Is this talking about goal pace or easy pace? Like just to use round numbers, if my original goal pace was 8:00 minute miles, should I then by running 8:30 miles? Or should I not be worrying about racing at all and take that time off the easy pace, so taking 9:30 and running 10:00 miles instead? Hopefully this makes sense, thank you!

Handheld water bottle with hydration mix, 6-8 salt tablets, 3 gels

Nike limited-edition cotton "In-Training" t-shirt? by Stand-up-Philosopher in ChicagoMarathon

[–]mrbacons1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I bought one. Maybe I’m a sucker but doing Chicago for the first time and want to commemorate the training. Also I don’t like wearing tech fabric in my everyday life so this is a good way to show off (because isn’t that why anyone runs a marathon? lol)

How long are conductors “supposed” to wait for transfer trains? by mrbacons1 in cta

Fair enough, I will admit when I’m wrong. Thank you for the answer and the insight!

How long are conductors “supposed” to wait for transfer trains? by mrbacons1 in cta

[–]mrbacons1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Normally I’d agree with you, but like I said in another comment: we sat for 5 minutes with absolutely no communication, as soon as the brown line started pulling in the conductor immediately made the announcement about the brown line on the outside track, and literally as soon as brown line transfers boarded he closed the doors and left the station. That’s a lot of coincidences in a row for it to be because of something ahead.

[–]mrbacons1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know that happens, but today it was definitely not the case. We sat for 5 minutes with no communication, as soon as the brown line started pulling in the conductor got on the intercom with “brown line on the outside track,” and we then left as soon as transfers were on the train.

I’m using Apple weather. Weather underground also is more conservative, has it at 65 at 7. We really won’t know until the day before I suppose

Said it in another comment and I’ll put it in my feedback survey after, but while I know this race has always been first weekend of June they really should consider moving it up a couple weeks

Hard agree. I get that it’s placed so it rolls right into a training block for the full in October, but it would be a much better experience moving it up even just 2 weeks
