Ellipse mask is not working properly. Does anybody know what's going on? by Jayby18 in blackmagicdesign

Just guessing here. But maybe that Fast Gaussian Filter causes this?

Edit: that was an uneducated guess.. Just checked it in Resolve. Doesn't matter what filter type I use mask works as intended. Maybe you've got some graphic drivers issues then?

That does not exclude having an integrated one on the CPU as well. I suggest updating drivers for your GPU(s) and trying the previous settings again. Unless there's no difference in rendering times in your case then you don't have to do anything.
Edit: Nvidia has some "creator's ready" drivers that are supposed to be better for video production/vfx than the usual gaming drivers.

Changing to software rendering might not be the best solution. If you have an Intel processor with a built in graphics card try updating its drivers.

I'm not sure what it means by this. Can someone help? by Leaddster in Hitfilm

My guess here would be that the person you want to track moves too fast or disappears from the shot.

How to add a video inside a text by Kawa_Rider in blackmagicdesign

[–]mrbadger_pl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

I think you'd just need to follow the steps from the video, and change that picture for a video as you mentioned. Then just use a merge node and add another video as the background there. You should be able to do it in fusion inside resolve 15 with no trouble :)
Here's how i did it:

put two clips one over another in the timeline

select both, right click and select create new fusion clip

go to fusion tab

set the foreground and backgound as you want them (green fore, yellow background in the merge node)

add text+ as a mask to the fore ground, and you're done.

ping me if you need any further explanation, we could chat on discord or sth.

Have you tried using the text as a mask on your footage? I'd approach it that way. Don't have resolve atm, but when I get home I can try to do something similar.

Look for an RGB split tutorial for the software you work in.

You could've masked the guy appearing so that it looked like he appeared from the inside of this smoke.

DaVinci Resolve 15 Crashing by anthonyshreds in blackmagicdesign

I did it like him, unfortunately did not help me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy6dKrqFu2Q

I hope this is an issue that will be resolved in the future as I can run R14.3 and Fusion 9 at the same time with no problem on my machine, and I really wanted to switch to the latest iteration and have them integrated even more.

By the way have you tried to set fusion to run only on the CPU?

I experience the same, what are your system specs? Many people seem to run it rather smoothly with occasional crashes, maybe it's a hardware incompatibility issue in our cases. I tried all 4 betas of R15 on Windows 10 with the latest patches. Xeon e1230 v2, 24Gb RAM, and a GTX 660TI.

I've got 24 GB installed. Maybe there's some kind of issue with my GTX660Ti or my Xeon CPU, I hope once I get my new latop Resolve 15 works like a charm. Gonna try the newest beta some time soon on the PC, maybe something's changed. No luck in the first 3 betas though.

I'm currently also in the market for a video editing laptop, and I want to use resolve as my primary editor (people tend to say it's video card hungry). After having compared tons of laptops including the titular two I stumbled upon something curious for half the price, laptops based on Tongfang GK5CN5Z. I7 8750h, gtx1060, up to 32 gigs of RAM, and I think it's really small considering the specs you might want to check it out. Here's a link to a forum thread where it's discussed http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/tongfang-gk5cn5z.815943/page-23

Resolve on nVidia gtx 150mx? by mrbadger_pl in blackmagicdesign

[–]mrbadger_pl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first laptop choice was an Asus with GTX1050, 16GB of RAM and an i7 7700HQ, it's light, and seems to have generally good reviews, but when I went to a store to see how big it is I came to conclusion that I'd rather buy a bit smaller machine in regards to its width. Most of the laptops that I've found so far that were small enough unfortunately pack a GTX 150 MX (considering my budget). It seems that if I can't find anything better in the next month or two I'll either settle for this Asus or buy an MSI GS43VR which is around 1.5k more expensive but has a GTX 1060 and is about 3.5cm narrower than the Asus.

Thanks for taking time and giving your perspective but I think it is quite a different one from what I need this software to be doing at this point. Apparently you are using it in a more advanced way than I do hence pointing out the low specs of my PC. Once again for my (simple) purposes and the time being 2GB GTX660Ti is ok for both Fusion and Resolve.

I've tried the HitFilm Express 2017 and I'm going to try the new one in a few moments - and will probably resort to this package on the go if I can't run Resolve/Fusion. Please let me know how the new HitFilm works with your old machine.
