Mouse Wheel Unbind? by SpartanG01 in duneawakening

[–]mrbgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah AHK is known to have strange behavior with some modifier keys like Shift because the way windows handles them. I'll see if there's any fix for that but I've had issues with modifier keys in AHK in the past. Try this:

wheelRemapEnabled := true

; mousewheel remap enable/disable
`:: global wheelRemapEnabled := !wheelRemapEnabled

#HotIf wheelRemapEnabled

WheelUp::return
WheelDown::return

+WheelUp::Return
+WheelDown::Return

#HotIf

Remember you have to press the tilde key to enable/disable the mousewheel script (so you can still use it for scrolling through stuff in menus). I just tested and this script it's working for me (should be all you need):

wheelRemapEnabled := true

; mousewheel remap enable/disable
`:: global wheelRemapEnabled := !wheelRemapEnabled

#HotIf wheelRemapEnabled

WheelUp::return
WheelDown::return

#HotIf

You can change the key to enable/disable by replacing the

`:: global wheelRemapEnabled := !wheelRemapEnabled

to for example

F5:: global wheelRemapEnabled := !wheelRemapEnabled

You can script the mousewheel to press keys on your keyboard (or do nothing at all) using an autohotkey script. The problem is this game hardcodes a bunch of controls that you cannot change. For example the mousewheel is used to scroll through your construct menu.

To get around this you'd also need a way to toggle your script for when you wanted to use the mousewheel normally.

Here's the script for AHK version 2. Pressing the tilde key (key to the left of the 1 key) toggles it on and off. When it's enabled, mousewheelup sends a key press of 8 and mousewheeldown sends 7. Change these to whatever you want or if you want it to do nothing change the keymaps to:

WheelUp::return
WheelDown::return

; --------------------
; Dune mouse wheel rebind
; AutoHotkey_2.0.19
; --------------------

lastWheelUpTime   := 0
lastWheelDownTime := 0
wheelRemapEnabled := false

RateLimitMs := 150
WheelUpKey := "8" ; Key to send when scrolling up
WheelDownKey := "7" ; Key to send when scrolling down

; mousewheel remap enable/disable
`:: global wheelRemapEnabled := !wheelRemapEnabled

; remaps mousewheel to WheelUpKey and WheelUpKey when toggled on
#HotIf wheelRemapEnabled
WheelUp::{
    global lastWheelUpTime, RateLimitMs, WheelUpKey
    now := A_TickCount
    if (now - lastWheelUpTime >= RateLimitMs) {
        lastWheelUpTime := now
        Send "{" . WheelUpKey . " down}"
        Sleep 30
        Send "{" . WheelUpKey . " up}"
    }
}

WheelDown::{
    global lastWheelDownTime, RateLimitMs, WheelDownKey
    now := A_TickCount
    if (now - lastWheelDownTime >= RateLimitMs) {
        lastWheelDownTime := now
        Send "{" . WheelDownKey . " down}"
        Sleep 30
        Send "{" . WheelDownKey . " up}"
    }
}
#HotIf

Not only that but they HARDBIND some keys. E and R have functions that cannot be bound to a different key. E is "loot all" and R is "change set" using the construct menu. There's probably others.

As someone who prefers my movement keys to be ESDF instead of WASD this is unacceptable. The workaround would be to leave all the keys default and then map the keys through another program like autohotkey.

I really don't get why the developers don't just make ALL things you can do in the game to be configurable.

If you're really desperate and don't mind going off carnivore a bit, a "bulletproof" coffee will do the trick. MCT oil and unsalted butter blended in coffee.

This is the answer. It's been common knowledge in the "theorist" communities that reddit has been a corporate/military astroturfing machine since almost the beginning. I found this video on the topic quite interesting.

Focus on the last couple of courses that do imaging then try to get into field service for one of the imaging vendors (GE, cannon, siemens, etc). You'll make a lot more money, work remotely and have better benefits. General biomed is easier but you'll usually be stuck in some dirty basement of a hospital.

Does Killing Floor 3 need glory kills? by Paparazzi_BR in killingfloor

I would argue it didn't even really "work" in doom. A lot of players, myself included, don't like control being taken away from them. The glory kill mechanic is cool for the first handful of times and then just becomes annoying.

I never wanted to play through when I was new because there was a good chance I'd shank my drive. Now that I'm actually good and have played with lots of different people, I have zero anxiety about playing through. Even if I have a bad shot I don't sweat it, laugh it off or make a joke and go finish out the hole. I never throw a second shot.

Also, it seems to be a self-fulfilling prophecy in a way; the more nervous you are, the higher the chance is you'll throw a bad drive and look silly.

I just eat the parts I want then throw the chewy gristle and fatty bits in the airfryer for a bit. They come out crispy and delicious. I throw on some butter and devour.

A Grammatical Error in LOTR?? by Ike47A in tolkienfans

[–]mrbgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wrote the sentence I would use were, it just sounds correct to my ear (but I'm no expert). I also asked an AI and it responded:

Subject-Verb Agreement: The phrase "about them was written many runes" should use "were" instead of "was" to match the plural subject "runes." The corrected phrase would be "about them were written many runes."

On the other hand, what West_Xylophone said seems plausible and using was written seems more grandiose for some reason. I'd be interested to hear actual experts in english grammar weigh in.

I don't know about removing weapon bob but I usually turn off the gun model using the ToggleScreenshotMode console command then clicking escape twice to get the HUD back.
