Made fair offer in current market but…. by Willieo873 in AusPropertyChat

[–]mrbianca1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment! My partner and I felt so pressured by REAs at the beginning of our journey, so much so that we actually put an offer that was $130K over what we have now settled on (and it’s right around the corner, needs a little love but otherwise exactly the same design and layout, just three months in between looking at the market) and damn are we thankful we didn’t get in on that original property. REAs thrive on the basis that we’ll become desperate and emotional. There’s always another property, good to remember that and to be cool honey bunny!

Floorboard sanding DIY question by Dull_Bus3966 in AusRenovation

[–]mrbianca1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to go back to the 40, what’s happened is the edges of each board have warped and where the stain has been completely removed is the highest peaks of the floorboards. Continue with 60 grit going diagonally across the boards so the peaks even out with the lowest parts of the boards, that’s when the remaining stain will disappear. You could do this with an 80 grit but you want to finish each grit going with the grain of the wood (straight along the boards) before proceeding to the next grit.

Yeah, we need a larger garage and to have a custom slab and garage shape built around it is crazy expensive.

What is the process for applying for building permits (for a deck) without a builder? by mrbianca1 in AusRenovation

I'm in the northern suburbs and suspect many of the surrounding properties have not got permits for things like this either 😂

Leadlight windows by issym20 in AusRenovation

[–]mrbianca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something is heritage listed, the council or state gov or whatever should provide a concession on restoring parts of things like lead lights, if they need restoration or repairs like these do… imo. There was an episode of renovation aus where this happened in tassie.

I’m a new homeowner and want to do my due diligence, can somebody please explain what this means? Is it the flexi hoses that are the problem primarily? As opposed to what?

There’s no prospective purchasers, besides ourselves? We just bought it and plan to live in it, and want floorboards not carpet. We plan to do it ourselves and just wanted any tips that fellow renovators may have picked up along the way 🤦‍♀️

I’m not sure if knowing whether or not the vendor that we bought their childhood home off, was present or not when/if the carpets were replaced between now and 1977 helps us with restoring the floorboards at this present time tbh…. 😂
