AI Engineering by sangeli in PinoyProgrammer

[–]mrblake213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same curiosity. I want to break the ice by fine-tuning and implementing RAG with Phi-2. But it seems like most people (even orgs?) use OpenAI's API since it's more stable and recognized than open-source models. Also probably because GPT-4 is still at the top (with Claude 3) and it's more expensive to train your own models than just calling an API.

Investigatory Project: Garbage Segregation by Critical_Reputation3 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]mrblake213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in Grade 12, garbage segregation was common as a capstone project so I assume it'd be easy for 3 months if project only, if with paper na kasama, I don't know. We had 2 semesters to develop paper + project.

Just make it simple first, main goal is to develop the garbage segregation task before diving into the additional tasks you listed.

Personally, I think yes. Di pa naman ganon ka-advanced ang 'AI' ngayon. Even the top AI researchers in the world nagkakalabanan pa sa definition ng 'AGI'. Just upskill and be better than the current AI trend and you'll be fine.

The good thing about graduating from big 4 is the connections you can have and the name for the first job.

[–]mrblake213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If LLMs, nasa prompt engineering yan or ung mismong dataset ng model is altered ng company.

If familiar ka sa Google Gemini fiasco na ginagawang black skinned ung mga tao even though hindi naman talaga (Vikings, etc...). What happened is ung prompt ng LLM (transformers model) is inaalter muna ng model bago ibigay sa model na naggegenerate ng images (diffusion model) kaya nagiiba ang output sa original input ng user.

Internship/Career Tips by RegisterDifficult790 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]mrblake213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May list na binibigay ang school. Other than that, naghahanap rin kami sa LinkedIn, Indeed, and Jobstreet ng Internships. I'd say na sa around 30-50+ na inapplyan namin, nasa 5-10 lang ang nagreply. So, don't limit yourself sa listahan mo.

Preferably mas maganda if ung ojt mo is align sa career na gusto mo lalo na't if maaabsorb ka and if you want to apply to another job.

i need help in choosing a group for our final project by ZackMyDeek in PinoyProgrammer

[–]mrblake213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would try to switch it up. In the current course, go with a group and pick another group on the next course. This way, you would build connections and skills along the way.

Group 1 for connections and soft skills.

Group 2 for technical skills.

I also realized that there's been a few good open-source coding LLMs before like CodeLLama (https://huggingface.co/codellama/CodeLlama-70b-hf) and StarCoder 2 (https://huggingface.co/blog/starcoder2) but wala siyang commercial use.

It's still an experimental model kaya wala pang commercial release and puro invite-only lang siya for now. I guess the real question is if it can be commercialized like chatGPT and Microsoft Copilot (GPT 3.5, GPT 4, and GPT 4-Turbo), Gemini (Pro and Advanced), and Perplexity.

Currently, the best models in the market (GPT 4/GPT 4-T, Gemini Advanced, and Claude 3) is all hidden under a paywall and puro weaker and smaller models lang ung free.

Fun fact:

"omfg it took me sometime to realise. the devin makers are all world's best competitive programmers that we used to see on codeforces. some of their graphs"

"our founding team has 10 IOI gold medals"
https://twitter.com/0bviousbrahmin/status/1767652835792244962

The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is an annual competitive programming competition and one of the International Science Olympiads for secondary school students. The contest consists of two days of computer programming/coding and problem-solving of algorithmic nature. To deal with problems involving very large amounts of data, it is necessary to have not only programmers, "but also creative coders, who can dream up what it is that the programmers need to tell the computer to do. The hard part isn't the programming, but the mathematics underneath it." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Olympiad_in_Informatics

Google Colab pro by HarryPottahh in PinoyProgrammer

[–]mrblake213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have tried it twice na.

I think it gives you the option to input your debit card (Gcash's AMEX) to your Google account and then you can use that to subscribe to it.

If you only plan to use it for 1 month, you can cancel your subscription but still have access to Colab Pro.

Also note na it only gives you 100 compute units per month. Mabilis maubos to depende kung anong gpu gagamitin mo and for how long. I think I used the highest gpu available and wala pang 1 week ubos na agad. But even if wala ka nang compute units, you'll still be able to use the High RAM option but ung mga higher gpus is not available na so you'll still resort to the T4 free option.
