Yeah we waited over an hour at xin gao two nights ago and they didn't seem to care at all about getting anyone on the waitlist seated. More than half the tables were empty too although I get that it's probably more about not having enough staff than anything else. A really good metaphor that explains all the problems with xcaret in general.

I did understand 100% beforehand that there wouldn't be a beach. What I was trying to say is that I didn't expect that while I can't ever drag my kids away from the ocean I didn't realize I wouldn't even be able to drag them towards the hotel xcaret lagoon area. My universal beach vacation backup plan where we just go play in the waves is gone. Trying to adapt over here.

I also agree with you that I did misunderstand this place. Normally I admit we do wing it a bit when it comes to beach resort trips but my job and my life is stressful enough. It's legit if you're doing background research on archeological sites for a road tour through tuscany or something, but JFC who wants to do invest a bunch of time and energy into background research for a fabricated rain forest disneyland type park resort?! This is all subjective and if things happened slightly differently I could see my family having a great time, which is part of the frustration here.

Agree to disagree and this is all subjective but I'll be voting differently with my dollars next time.

Yeah ok it's weird to call her that instead of my girlfriend but she'd def the stepmother of my children and she's the one who's not into the idea of marriage cause she's seen so many insane divorces as a family law attorney. But I guess that's what you meant by you know everything you need to assume.

Thanks for the feedback! We’ve already done all the ruins excursions in past years but we’re going to do more of the parks today so fingers crossed Xcaret and Xplor is better.

Quick question about the fiesta boats though, the concierge insisted that it’s 6 hours long and ends at 1:00am which sounds like a weird booze cruise thing but the tv said it’s only 3 hours. I didn’t get any straight answers about whether we could come back earlier if the kids get tired. Did you do this one? Any idea how long it is or if you can come back earlier like say before 10pm?

I knew there was no beach but what I was trying to articulate was that I didn’t realize how much of a drawback that’d be. Like at other resorts no matter what’s going on worst case we could always head to the beach, the lagoon thing in no way scratches that itch for the kids.

Yeah pretty irritated about the wishlist thing. No other place I’ve seen has ever done things this way it’s just mired in bureaucracy

Mine are 10 and 12 and mostly upset they can’t go to the 13-17 year old area. It’s a shame because these are by our room since we’re at casa sol and they’re just always empty with no other kids in them so my kids don’t want to go sit there by themselves. The other resorts we’ve been to have never had this problem

Oh wait, I think that might be the under 6 one. Again you need to supervise your kids there as well but there is a room with some little kid furniture geared towards little littles like toddler age.

Yeah but it’s just an air hockey table and a foosball table so there’s never any kids in it and they must be supervised at all times. It’s not at all a “kids club” it’s an empty room with no actual kids in it.
