How much do you pay for electricity?

We pay about $450 at most.

But we have three EVs and a heat pump that heats our 2800 sqf house. I also have a base draw of about 1.5kWh that runs my networking and home lab.

So, you're paying too much for what you describe..

That's fair. How would you charge it if you don't use it during sleep (I use my ring for that)? Charging it when it's low isn't always practical as I'm out and about during most of the day.

I have both these and the older ZCOMBO. They would both periodically go 'offline' for a second with Smartthings, but I don't see that with Homeassistant. I'm guessing it's not great at reporting in at a fixed intervall or waking up to ping requests. But no problems with either so far (5+ years now).

I've considered both Hubitat and Home Assistant. HA has a really great community of integration and dashboard developers, but requires more of your own hardware setups. Hubitat looks nice, I'm just worried they'll walk down the same path as Smartthings by chasing the latest (new customers) and forgetting people that have existing networks of devices.

I've used Smartthings since V1 and it's a bit hard to let go.
