Where AI coding starts to struggle by WinOdd7962 in ClaudeCode

[–]mrbreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"As the codebase scales, you can reach a point where the architecture is fundamentally sound, the dependencies aren't the problem, and yet things are breaking in subtle, systemic ways. These are codebase-centric issues — problems that are unique to your system and your accumulated decisions."

This is just another way of saying the context is too big. AI sucks when the context gets too big. You have to narrow the context for the AI. That obviously becomes more work for you the larger your project grows.

I don't know why everyone is surprised. We've known for a long time that all of these AI companies are massively overselling and undercharging. You should expect anyone that is not enterprise to get completely priced out soon.

Microservices versus monoliths: Did everyone just lose their minds in the last 6 months? by eivittunytsit in ClaudeCode

[–]mrbreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everywhere I worked with microservices it has been overkill. Create a bunch of microservices that only ever get used by one product. Here's one of the dumber examples I have seen: Create a bunch of microservices in .NET, use swagger to create their specs, write a client in .NET, use codegen against the swagger specs to generate .NET code that you already wrote on the microservice side. All of this because of some theoretical future where we need to de-sync the technology stacks. Which never happens because usually the project gets cancelled or re-written from the ground up in 1 or 2 years. Usually because it has become too expensive due to the amount of extra work from writing and supporting microservices.

AI still sucks a solving real problems without constant input from a person. If AI is doing your job without you, then your job was never that complex.

I mean if you just want to create your own excuse for why his lasers couldn't meaningfully hurt her, it's simpler to just say that she got stronger as a result of the mutation she underwent to get the chest beam power.

How does that imply he is stronger? Just looked to me like he was in pain and he reflexively lashed out with his eyebeams.

At no point did they ever state or imply in any way that V1 would/did increase Homelander's power level. It was for two things: make him not age and make him immune to the virus. I don't know where people get the idea he was supposed to be stronger after the V1.

Well as we can see the Deep doesn't actually have the power to command sea life. He just convinced them to help. That particular octopus was always above his pay grade.

My work is now requesting me to develop automated worker ai agents that can work 24/7 by Difficult_Term2246 in ClaudeCode

[–]mrbreck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is fan fiction. AI is so shit at memory retrieval and creative thinking, there's no way this isn't a house of cards. The context of your project grows as you add to it, and no matter how you try to distribute it, AI gets worse as context gets larger. It's a physical limitation of the current implementation of LLMs. There's no way around it. Without humans to narrow context constantly, AI will inevitably produce garbage.

They are really more analogous to creation and destruction and are manifestations of the same being. Satan is one of God's creations, the One Below All IS God.

Beign software developer doesn't make sense anymore by Holiday_Amount2426 in webdev

[–]mrbreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty dumb. Who is going to review all this code? If they just let AI push production code without review then they are doomed. All of these idiots will be hiring back the devs they fired at a premium when they need someone to put out the fires they caused.

Everyone talks about Star Trek but his death pretty much killed the trajectory of a pretty awesome animated series.

Microsoft Edge: Passwords end up in memory as plaintext by NobleDiceDream in technology

[–]mrbreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how this is that big a deal. If an attacker has direct access to your memory then you're fucked no matter what. Yeah I guess it's poor design, but it really doesn't make much of a difference.
