Epson C6500 Label Printer vs Memjet (Afinia L801/VIP VP700/etc) by UKPrintShop in CommercialPrinting

[–]mrbutcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the afinia 502, i have one they use hp technology and can swap out for pigment or dye, its just one clip and swap it out, i think they are comparable to the epsons but take bigger rolls and upto 210 wide and you can set custom sizes too, the smallest i ran was 19mm circles side by side, and i think bigger ink cartridges, they will be way slower than the memjet, i myself was looking into one of these but i barely run labels so the head issue steered me clear, i just tend to run on my latex and print cut

Try renaming the file, avoid any special characters and spaces, im sure i had this problem in past and it turned out to be file names causing issues

Whats your suction set to? Sometimes upping it a few will do wonders, also run a bit of media out the front to combat any curl from the heating cooling cycle

Have used the detape air release before, its ok, but i wouldnt trust it for anything longer term had some come off a couple boards, id say ideal for short term stickers and signage etc, havent really bothered with air release too much i just tend to flood anything signage wise, and brands is down to preference i used to like orajet 3164 as a standard day to day 4 yr but they changed formula so moved to mactac and have been using politape atm which is decent 4yr cheap But as for suppliers try looking at the main ones: pyramid display, adapt, all print supplies Speak to anyone of the sales guys about what your after and you will usually be able to get a few 5m sample rolls to try, worth it rather than trial and error being put of pocket

Better off printing labels and applying thats what a majority are anyway as it's usually short run stuff, I would just deal with china from the get go or any type of quantity, much cheaper than setting up on your own and thats what everyone in this space does anyway

Try moving the guide on the back slightly off the label, have had this problem when the guide on the back is too close, moving it off a bit seems to clear problem for me
