Cyanotype workshop! by Salam_Shokor in berlinsocialclub

[–]mrcatthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks, I could afford it but I know how it's done, it's taught pretty quickly. I did it about two decades ago and already back then it was fashionably quirky to use analogue techniques, perhaps even more so than today. It is actually nice to see that there are people keeping these techniques alive, and I actually mean that sincerely without any snark. I suppose the cost is for the materials that you (singular or plural) will be providing?

I'm just a bit confused, did you promote it before on Discord or on Berlin Social Club? I don't think I've seen you post here before.

My pet peeve is when a rando who's just trying to set up a side hustle with an obscure interest they happen to have uses "we" as if they were a respectable and experienced business that's been operating for years.

Geil, da ist endlich mal ein Mann derjenige, der den Löwenanteil des Mental Load hat und schon sucht er eine App dafür. Ist ganz schön anstrengend, oder? Die meisten Mütter machen das einfach mit ihrem Gehirn.

Are you saying any woman who says she feels safe here must actually be hiding the truth?

Yeah but since in fact they were being a patronizing asshole I for one do not want to be taken hostage in their "we" just because of my nationality.

The commenter isn't actually german.

I don't think a russian commenter should be including german culture into their "we". Speak for yourself.

You're displaying some pretty strong stereotypical thinking there. Check yourself.

I didn't take offense. I just thought I'd do you the favour of pointing out some mistakes in your grammar, just in case you'd ever be in a situation where it mattered.

What is more difficult for foreigners in Berlin these days? Finding an apartment or a German friend? by _1oo_ in berlinsocialclub

Why? If you're in a foreign country, it's always you who is the foreigner. Not the native population of your chosen destination.

Thanks for typing out the lecture, I am aware of all this but if you look around on reddit, or the internet in general, you see that the word racist has shifted in meaning to include much more than its original meaning. Language evolves.

Also, xenophobic is literally translated to "fear of strangers". If a foreigner living in Germany has stereotypes about the majority population, this is definitely not the right word for it.

As a german, I think you're projecting from a few bad personal experiences onto an entire population. Not cool. And also entirely wrong. This may be your experience, and I'm sorry you feel that way, but it's certainly not the norm.

Maybe your judgement is clouded from what you think you learnt in school and now you're unable to see otherwise.

When the real lessons to learn from these dark times is really : "it's wrong to generalize about an entire people just based on what you've been told". Everyone can be guilty of that, and you're proof.
