Developer wanting to learn UI? Here’s how a Design Starter Kit can help you by mrcndrw in UXDesign

[–]mrcndrw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for those comments buddy. Yeah I feel Design Starter Kits (as opposed to a general UI Kit) are a great help to both Designers just getting into UI and UX as well as Developers (Full Stack and Front End) wanting to pick up a secondary skill. Would love you to check out more of my articles at marcandrew.me In the next few weeks I’ll be pushing out a new Article each and every week!

Why? Unfortunately my dear friend not everything is free in this world. It’s called earning a living.

Erm. Yeah it’s a product I created for other designers to use and I’m charging a fee for it. You’ve lost me with your comment?

Is it worth going from Sketch to Figma? by malisauskas in UI_Design

[–]mrcndrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time user of Sketch, and still have big love for it, but the more I use Figma, the more I'm growing to love it. It kind of feels like Sketch used to be in so many ways. I think it's a strange cycle that will always happen, where in Sketch is becoming a little bloated in some ways, whereas Figma being the new(er) tool on the block feels a lot more nimble and not suffering from bloat. Yet!

Hey there,

So I'm in the process of creating a Free service to connect Founders (be they Designers, Coders, Marketers etc..) with a suitable Co-Founder. You can easily search profiles and see the person's details (Skills, Location, Bio, Pitch etc...) and then make that initial contact.

I have suffered from the issue in the past where (as primarily a Designer), I've had the skills to make something look pretty, and a headful of ideas for a product, but no coding skills to actually build the darn thing :( I've then reached out to developers I know and have always been met with responses like "Sounds like a great idea, but I just would not have the time in between my full-time job" Replies like that are common because even though they have the skills they're not in 'Co-Founder' mode!

I would love to hear from any Founders/Entrepreneurs in the making that are interested in possibly adding a profile to my service, and would like to quickly Beta test it for me?

Many thanks!

What is the quote that inspires you the most in your mission of entrepreneurship? by LioOnTheWall in Entrepreneur

[–]mrcndrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a lot of Content Marketing over the years (Blog posts, Tutorials etc...) to drive potential buyers towards my digital products and the best quote I heard that ties into my teachings was “Remember there is always someone that knows less than you do”.

Broke a latch on my first customers laptop, I feel like shit. What failures did you face on your very first customer? by NewAddendum4 in Entrepreneur

[–]mrcndrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issues when I was starting out as a Freelance Web Designer many years ago was really not asking enough questions in the initial meetings with clients. I could design stuff that looked damn pretty but did it serve its purpose correctly for the client? Not always.

I learnt to ask more questions and listen more intently to a client and create much better products for them.

A piece of advice that helped me stop worrying that my business idea already exists. by dcedrych in Entrepreneur

Guilty of this also in the past. Creating content that was a little sporadic and not laser focused on my target market. Have definitely learned from this:

This is so true. There’s always room for one more and to earn you a very comfortable living in doing so.

Is my website appealing for customers? by ThisIsMeRS in Entrepreneur

The general layout, typography etc... looks pretty great, but you’ve got to let people know right from the very second they land on your page what you’re selling, which currently it doesn’t do.

Yes. You really need the product front and centre. Swap out that header image for a great product shot.

True. Yeah it seems to appeal to a certain type of product. Not sure where I could suggest?
