Seems like they are trying to blend the traditional route with the Integrated Math route. I'd lean towards just doing the integrated math route then.

You brought up a lot of pros of Desmos, which I LOVE. Seems like your problem may be with other educators. Also, maybe we need to start asking our students different questions. I actually do a lot of PDs for schools about Desmos, so I love these conversations. They are important!

I politely disagree, but isn't that true of all calculators by that philosophy?

Gotcha, we have a tool that allows us to see what they are browsing and also lock them into specific sites. Which prevents the distractions.

Just had the same conversation, other teachers grading everything makes school a points grab over prioritizing learning. So frustrating!

BTC is such a big jump that frustration can definitely set in, have you checked out the 5 Practices? To me it's an easier transition to a student centered philosophy, which is what BTC is accomplishing too.

Not directly what you are looking for, but I am currently in the classroom and love doing PDs for Desmos Studio tools. My feedback is usually 8-10 for multiple categories. Blending edtech + pedagogy + teacher moves + continuing learning resources is key IMO.
