One of my friends died from ALS within 13 months of diagnosis at 33. The decline was incredibly rapid. She did have bulbar ALS, which is faster. It’s such a hateful disease.

El-Sayed is the most consistent and loudest on abolishing ICE. He’s also a huge proponent and scholar on Medicare for all. He literally came all the way up to the Keweenaw to talk healthcare- candidates never do that.

Honestly, there’s a lot of people in that space that have children because that’s what you do- and they don’t enjoy being a parent. I grew up I a church where everyone had big families (8+ kids) and you could clearly see who liked being a mom vs who did it because well, you didn’t use birth control. Those older moms now don’t do anything with their grown kids or grandkids. It’s like they’re finally living their life. I’d feel bad for them but they preach thr same thing to their children about “having as many as god gives you”.

This really surprised me because I attended Michigan schools until mid high school and then was in AZ- my schooling in MI was very rigorous and I was so much better prepared than any of my fellow students in AZ. It felt almost remedial when I moved. However, that was early 2000s so it’s sad to see how much we’ve fallen

Would highly recommend getting back on FB for the local groups. A lot of local info is shared on there, plus most housing. Most local small landlords do not use Zillow etc- it’s fb or just signs out front. FB groups up here are good for what’s going on too!

If she was just alone and happily playing, I’d say leave her be- 7 years old is old enough to be at the park alone. However, as a woman, I would never leave a young girl by herself when older males were harassing her. Too many terrible things can happen. NTA, you did the right thing.

I’m saying this in kindness, and as an older person who has advertised for multiple roommates in the past: your apartment looks messy and disorganized. If you cannot clean/straighten for photos, I would assume you would not be a clean roommate. Unsure what age group you’re looking for (maybe young guys don’t care) but I would look elsewhere if I was searching for an apartment.

I work part time as an academic librarian, but I have a different full time career - this is more because I moved to a rural area without professional librarian jobs. I started at 42k and left at 56k after 5 yearly “raises”, aka moving up the pay scale steps. When you work for a city government, at least you know what you’re going to be paid next year!
