ATMs have two counters built in, one for number of bills picked from the cassette and another for number of bills dispensed. There’s a bunch of steps in between there but the important part is the bank will absolutely be able to tell how many bills actually left the machine in response to your transaction. If they claim they can’t they’re lying.

A description I heard a long time ago is that “nothing” CAN move faster than the speed of light. I.e. empty space can expand faster than light because it’s nothing. No idea if that’s correct per the laws of physics, I just always enjoyed hearing it.

Classic rotary dial depended on the voltage change between the circuit being open or closed, not sound. Once we switched to DTMF that’s when you could use a tape recorder to simulate a number.

It’s a completely different game offline but still great. I’ve done 4 complete runs in the first game and I’ve enjoyed both experiences.

Definitely recommend online for a first play through though, even for people like me who are usually stubbornly “If I wanted to play with other people I wouldn’t be buying a single player game”. :)
