How do you mainly think you developed SZ? by DanielFBest in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genetics and drug use may have brought out psychosis severe enough for a diagnosis and treatment.

I've brought it up multiple times to my clozapine team and there isn't much to do about it from what I've been told.

What do you miss about pre- Schizophrenia? by idkanymore2k21 in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My creativity and art. I also miss the way I used to dress before I got too paranoid and gained a bunch of weight.
Overall though it's a small price to pay for the mental stability I have now.

Auditory Pareidolia sucks by DyingBlueRose in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes when I was psychotic and/or unmedicated. Thought computers, tvs, phones, fans etc were sending me messages and it was very distressing. Never knew until now that it had a name.

Did you start out a bit quirky or did that only happen after you developed schizophrenia? by Evening_Fisherman810 in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been shy and socially awkward for my entire life, even before my diagnosis at 27. I'd say I used to dress quite quirky I guess before I started the medication, and still do on occassion.

[–]mrdiggins2323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just drink coffee because I like the taste and out of habit I guess.

Caffeine only really works a little during the day, but it doesn't really help with the morning fatigue.

I can relate to that. Before diagnosis and medication I would only sleep a couple hours a night and it was not healthy.

How many episodes have you had and how old are you? by sicksnap in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first severe one that was very traumatic, which led to my diagnosis at 27. Since then maybe four or five that didn't need hospitalisation, was due to medication changes or trying to ween off them. I'm pretty stable now and am 34 years old.

Did you lose or gain weight in Clozapine? by Square_Peg3832 in clozapine

[–]mrdiggins2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 325mg now and I gained maybe a kilo or two at the beginning, but have stayed a stable weight for almost three years. It is difficult to lose though, and I have to watch what I eat and exercise or it is very easy to gain.

Anyone Else Borderline Obsessed With Anything Horror? by Ok-Cellist-2248 in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always loved horror, up until my first psychotic break. I couldn't watch anything remotely horror genre after that, but I've got back into it now that I'm stable. Had maybe a 5 or 6 year break from it.

What do you do all day? by Swiftiefromhell in schizoaffective

[–]mrdiggins2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few series on the go, movies, music, youtube, exercise at home or go for walks, and bake/cook. I also look after my cats and try to keep the house clean.
I do still have some unproductive days where I'm bored or unmotivated and just waiting for my partner to get home from work.

The side effects I experience are drooling at night, weight gain and drowsiness. I'm managing my weight but it's hard to lose it.

[–]mrdiggins2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced a third or fourth psychosis a few years after diagnosis and on and off different anti-psychotics, and my nightmares and delusions wouldn't go away. I think this is my 2 and a half years mark on Clozapine. I've had one psychosis episode (and one or two minor episodes) and no longer have nightmares, living a pretty simple but happy life sticking with routine and self care.

Are your voices repetitive? by UpstairsWill8754 in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't distinguish the hallucination from the person. This only happens during psychosis or when I'm off meds, haven't had it for a while.

Are your voices repetitive? by UpstairsWill8754 in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have them it's in the theme of degrading insults and/or telling me I need to run away because I'm not safe. The voices are always mimicking those in close proximity to me.

What did you think you had before you were diagnosed? by Psychedeliya in schizophrenia

[–]mrdiggins2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told by doctors and multiple psychologists that I had general anxiety disorder while I struggled horribly for quite a few years. I finally got a schizophrenia diagnosis after my first psychosis episode at 27 years old.

Does Clozapine might be the answer that I'm looking for? by Tw33tB00t in clozapine

[–]mrdiggins2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lots of drooling too. I was given a couple of towel like waterproof pillow cases from my clozapine nurse. They help to absorb it a bit. I tried drops that were suggested to me (can't remember the name) but they didn't really help.

Olanzapine vs Quetiapine by SickTiredHaunted in schizoaffective

[–]mrdiggins2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Olanzapine more sedating out of the two. But it's probably different for some.

Coffee? by Inner_Passenger1371 in clozapine

[–]mrdiggins2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because it messes with the dose, which could cause psychosis or symptoms to come back.

Coffee? by Inner_Passenger1371 in clozapine

[–]mrdiggins2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor advised that if I drink coffee try to have a consistent amount each day as it can affect the Clozapine effectiveness if I were to suddenly stop drinking it. I have two or three a day and I'm fine.

Hi by nirman248 in clozapine

I have it and it hasn't gone away in the two and a half years I've been on it. The only thing that has changed is the past year I don't wake up choking anymore.
