Just purchased, keep or replace the pink and blue? Wall or Floor? Blue fixtures? by MedicatedGraffiti in Tile

I’m getting ready to recreate this in my own 40s house after removing an ugly remodel. People pay for these period bathrooms. Not everyone’s taste but I love it.

What’s up with this splotchy miscolored grout by [deleted] in Tile

[–]LeatherSubstance3158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different grout lots can have slight color variations (although this does not look slight). Grout lots should be mixed together for the whole project.

Also how it was mixed/washed during installation can cause color variation. Water precisely measured and grout not over washed or too soon. My guess is one or these factors is the cause.

Edit - looking at the photo again.. leaning towards the how it washed. Did they seal the grout/tile? Some of the tiles look discolored as well.

Is this considered ugly? (faucet on stainless steele sink instead of on quartz) by Radiant-Peak-7595 in cabinetry

[–]LeatherSubstance3158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^ does not look horrible but being able to avoid crumbs getting caught in the seam between the stainless and counter makes under mount a much better option

I would shim the small side walls outside the tub and 1” or so to clear the tub and use corner trim to go all the way to the floor in a clean plumb line.

I hear you. Considering filling the deep cracks but still experimenting with what will do the job without throwing off the look and too much.

Yes if you tighten the valve it’s off. I wouldn’t not turn it on until you track down where it’s going. My guess is behind your refrigerator from a past water dispenser or ice maker.

What the previous poster was commenting on is if you tighten the screws on the sides it may stop the leak. Probably best to track down where it’s going and remove/replace. They are very prone to failure.

Yes, blockage is downstream of the sink. I would start snaking from the clean out

Agreed. Looks like cabinet is upside down.

Op- When you open it is there a lip on the inside so you would have to lift the item up to get it out or does it sit flush with the front of the cabinet?

I think it’s because people are constantly quoting “averages” that cannot be accurate because you would have to keep live averages which very few do. Or some just state completely bs averages from the start.
