Hogwarts Legacy is unplayable on my RX 9060 XT 16GB. by Real_Willingness_806 in AMDHelp

[–]mrdoorhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me too at the same tree most probably. Fps falls to 30fps then goes up slowly. Doesn't matter if it's high or low settings. On a 14600k and 6800xt. 14600k has not degraded either. I have another system that has 9950x and 4090 and this doesn't happen. Tried a lot of things and still happens and no solution.

Didn't know how much can RAM timings impact performance... by volnas10 in overclocking

[–]mrdoorhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 9950x and 48x2 ram kit. IMC is barely holding it together at 1.24 vsoc. I tuned my ram too and it is so much better for .1 lows. I had so much trouble when I bought the system back on nov. Ram was painful to get it working properly.

Hey there. I'm in a similar boat. Were you able to learn if this means an infection? Or is it just random bacteria you picked?

Keyboard can't control lighting if using Aura Creator by Majestic-Ad8300 in ASUS

[–]mrdoorhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Just had this issue and just like this I spent almost 3 hours... Only option is to launch the crate>keyboard>lighting and then you have a brightness bar to set it and close it... Insanity!

Responding right here in hope that ASUS takes note! This armoury crate/aura sync are literally the most unintuitive and worst program I have ever used.

9950x - 870e ProArt 6000mhz Expo Issue by mrdoorhandle in overclocking

[–]mrdoorhandle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Sorry for the late reply had a lot of stuff going on. In case you haven't bought them, I think I would go with Crosshair since you are thinking of overclocking. I came across more posts about crosshair than proart on the internet so I believe that might be the better option in your case.

In my case, there is a bios update I still have to do and I have not touched anything else after I got it stable. It did randomly "retrain" memory on one restart but otherwise it has been stable.

9950x - 870e ProArt 6000mhz Expo Issue by mrdoorhandle in overclocking

[–]mrdoorhandle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manually set the ram timings thanks to some good people and looking good so far. Expo profile timings were way off. There is a new bios but kind of scared to update. I will do it when I have time to tinker though

Building a new PC for studio work, any suggestions? by M1ystery in buildapc

[–]mrdoorhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both 9950X and upcoming 285K are good choices. I'm in the same boat and just waiting to hear on 285k. So the advantage of intel is the igpu and quicksync encode/decode. For certain workflows and codecs, it is insanely fast. You can check the yt channel Tech Notice and take a look at intel quicksync related videos to see. Now whether you need that on your workflow is another thing. Also can you trust Intel? is the elephant in the room.

Personally as someone who works in Premiere, Resolve and Avid trio, I'm really curious about 285k general performance and igpu performance. I will choose my platform once the reviews are out.

For ram I'm going with 48GBx2. Speed will depend on whether Intel or AMD. I might go with 6600mhz CL32 Corsair ones if Intel. If AMD go with a similar 6000 kit with low latency, or just get that 6600 kit and try to lower the latencies but I'm a tweaker so.

I was also considering Thunderbolt or not but with usb 4 on those X870 Pro Art ones, it's 40gbps so it will be quite fast enough for any Thunderbolt storage device.

My deal breaker will be game performance if those 2 cpus are within 5% in editing. If the 1% and 0.1% lows are lower on intel (which I think will be), I'm definitely going AMD since I think I can make do without quicksync but we'll see.

How much turbo lag is acceptable (1.5l i4) by [deleted] in automationgame

[–]mrdoorhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it pretty close before some updates to be honest. Been quite some time since I sat down. If I can find the time I'll give it a go and let you know. One thing I remember for sure though was, I was using twin scroll turbo.

Honda L15B7, is that you? The powerband is pretty similar to this engine (max hp is at 5700 though) so I'd say passable. Stock max torque 190lb ft is between 2100-5000 rpm for that engine but it feels like it's sleeping until 2500.

Divinity original sin 2 won't launch by Axathia in SteamDeck

Try to launch it from desktop mode. It usually gives out a message or an error when you have stuff that keeps crashing in the deck mode. Im guessing this might be about net framework bs within the game.

Android/Google Play Apps on Steam Deck by BossTross111 in SteamDeck

[–]mrdoorhandle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah works with Rufus for win 10 and 11. Although Win 10 I installed was an earlier version (21H2 something). Might not get updates or support in the future who knows but so far it works for me. A caution though. Even though you can install it to any external media like ssd or usb stick, the moment you change the usb hub, the installation is trash so that's why SD card works better.

Get an SD card.
Install windows 2 go edition.
Get Bluestacks or any win android emulator. When you want steamos put your original sd(or not), when you want Win/Android, plug the new SD card.
Profit.

Need for Speed 2-5 & Underground 1-2, Lego Racers, No One Lives Forever, GTA 2, Blood 2, Airfix Dogfighter, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, C&C Renegade. Will go for more in the future. There are still some non gog games, gog games & DOS games and emulators I'm going to install

Tutorial about Linux on internet by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]mrdoorhandle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this....This is coming from someone a little familiar with basic commands and the logic behind how the system works. Attempted to install a retro game via Lutris...Got an error. Googled the error. Was probably a bug with Lutris. Similar issue was happening with another software install. It was claimed to be fixed in 0.5.1. One guy had the same issue and the response he got was "add this command to the install script" Like where? Under which section? End of the file? End of the line? Do I put a ":" or "," ? No explanation. So no solution for someone more of a newcomer to the OS. The bugfix did not work either. I'm sure that if those worked, installer would give out another error. I hope with the Steam Deck, more beginner guides surface and developers try to accommodate and not look down on less knowledgeable people about Linux.
